How much Does it Cost to get Fake nails Done?

Ok so I want to get my nails done in French Manicure, and I live in Tifton, Ga and I want to fake nails done ,but how much do they cost? How much Does it Cost to get Fake nails Done?
In a cheap, discount salon where they don't really know what they are doing? About $17-$30. In a high end salon with skilled nail professionals doing the work? More like $45-$75, and more in some salons - depending on where you live.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. Nails are no exception...How much Does it Cost to get Fake nails Done?
Acrylic nails? their usually anywhere from 10-30 dollars, from what i've seen.

But you could also go to like walmart or somewhere and get fake french manicures for under 10 dollars. of corse they wont be as nice as the other ones.

If you don't mind spending more money (20-40$), i would recommend getting gel nails, there a lot nicer looking and there better for your nails (healthier)

hope i helped ya! ;)
usually around 20-30 dollars
I live in New York and they cost around $20-$35.
It will probably range from 25-35 dollars.
it depends on where and what kind you get. but they are usually around 20-30 dollars

  • What are your opinions on painting little girls nails?

I'd really like to paint my 5 month old daughters nails to match her outfit for thanksgiving. She has a well being check up in a few weeks and I'll get the docs opinion then, but I would like to know what other mothers are doing. Would a non chip childs nail paint be alright? What are your opinions on painting little girls nails?
GrossWhat are your opinions on painting little girls nails?
i think nothing right with it
I think it's cute. Anyhow, as far as eating it is concerned, a friends one year old ate almost a whole bottle of nail polish (who the heck knows why?.. mmm great tasting?). They called poison control, and nothing was done, she is fine.... they said it won't do anything to her.

I was thinking a whole bottle? I guess it's non toxic. Anyhow, good luck, it's a one time event, ok maybe xmas? I paint my 2 year olds... she loves to do them, and do her daddys toes too.
Probably not a good idea just because she'll end up eating it and even a non chip childs one...well you should just wait until you ask the doctor just to be sure.
i'm a picky person, but i could barely wait for my daughter to born to do cute stuff with her!! i painted her nails before she was a month old. yeah, ask the doc, read labels etc and remove it when the party is done....although i would think that the chemicals in removers are far worse than those in polish. have a happy thanksgiving!!
i would not do that ,because her nails are still very sensitive, i don't know, but that could damage her nails.and if she puts her fingers in her mouth she might eat it. Good luck, and Happy Thanksgiving!
5 months is way too young as they still put their fingers in their mouths and will eat it.
I'd really like to make my little girl into a princess as well, so I understand where you are coming from. When she was around 10mths old I bought these very cute little barrettes to put in her hair... 5min later I caught her trying to eat one! Stopped my heart for a few seconds until I pried it out of her mouth. Hmm, nail polish, I think she'd be sticking her fingers in her mouth too much to do it. I've never looked though, they make nail polish just for children? If so, they probably have an age on it right? I'm guessing you'll have to wait a bit longer, but I'd be interested in hearing your pediatrician's comment. And dont feel bad for all those jerks giving you a hard time for wanting to make your girl beautiful, there are plenty of people on here you can just ignore.
Yea, ask ur doc to see if there is any reason why u shouldnt. otherwise I think it would look cute.
I would not recommend it at all. Although nail polish may be non chip I am sure if she nibbles enough she could swallow pieces. It is not worth the risk of your baby being sick. I would NEVER think of putting nailpolish on a baby.

Why not call your doctor's nurse and leave a message. They will speak to the doctor and get back to you. I don't think any doctor with half a brain cell would EVER ok this.

    good luck
i would prefer not to because shes to young do it when shes a bit older its just my guess im not sure but i wouldent paint my daughters nails till shes about a few years old
Easier on her than piercing her ears. It really burns me to see a baby or little girl with pierced ears.
Baby pink would work for her age.
It is fine. Look first to see if you can find something you like in that is made for children and if you can't find anything you like there you can always get some in the women's section that is hypoallergenic and that will be fine. A tip that my family physician gave me when I wanted to do my daughter's nails is to do them when she is sleeping. If you do that she is less likely to smudge the paint, try to grab at the polish brush, put them in her mouth before they are dry, etc. When she wakes up they will be done and more than likely she will not even notice you did it and will not be tempted to bother them. I've been doing my daughter's nails for years and she is two now. Good luck.

Uh, kind of creepy haha but I think you'd have a better chance meeting a girl, get her to like you, and then ask her to grow her nails out.

    Or try a nail salon.
    grow them yourself?

Why have I got vertical ridges on my nails?

I eat really healthily, exercise loads and I'm only 25, I don't smoke and only drink every so often, so why have I got vertical ridges on my nails? They are most prominent on my thumb nails and I think they've got worse recently. Apart from this my nails are pretty healthy and strong. Why have I got vertical ridges on my nails?
i get the same thing....someone told me vitamin B helps. i started taking extra vitamin B, and i haven't noticed a huge difference. vertical ridges are natural and aren't anything to worry about....horizontal ridges can indicate a major health problem.

i have horrible vertical ridges in my nails, so i buff them to make them more even and then coat them with 2-3 coats of clear nail polish that is enhanced with strengthener. Why have I got vertical ridges on my nails?
Drink more milk. You need more calcium and vitamins. Some people get them easier than others. But it's not a big deal.
I've been told that's from not getting enough vitamins

Is it weird for guys to paint their nails?

depends on the guy. on you, it'd look really weird. on goth/punk guys who can pull the look off it looks perfectly normal. or gay guys... but you're not gay so don't.Is it weird for guys to paint their nails?
It depends where you want to fit in. The well-dressed man may use a clear polish to give a clean, manicured appearance but most men don't use polish. If you want to make some other statement of who you are, such as having a 'colorful' personality, then you must also be prepared to accept any comments, looks or criticisms that come your way.Is it weird for guys to paint their nails?
To most people, yes it is kind of weird. But honestly, who really cares what others may think? Be true to yourself first, and foremost. Life is simply way too short to always have to worry about what others think of you. Live your life for yourself, not for anyone else. If polishing your nails makes you happy, then by all means - do it and don't even give it a second thought. Best wishes!
When I grew up it was weird for guys to have long hair - I grew it long - and my attitude was people could just get used to it. If it is something that is important for you to do then do it and the hell with what anyone else thinks

    Good luck man
i guess it depends on what culture/social upbringing you have.. your the only one who knows the answer to that question... y listen into other people's opinion about things like that?? actually it depends on the individual's perspective if it is weird for he or she to color his or her nail.. live your life not because of how people expect you to be... but live your life on how you want it to be.. hehehe..i guess my answer's a bit long for your question though? hehehe.. have a nice day pal^^ cheers!!!
Painting your toenails a color? I have been doing this for years, open toed sandals and out in public at home and outside. It's catching on and people are accepting it. Check out www.opi.com and Suzie's web blog if you don't believe me, (i.e. toe-paint).

Painting your fingernails? Clear seems to be okay, color is for the rock crowd but hwy care what others think? If you can accept it why can't everyone else? I would say if it makes you feel good, fingers or toes, just do it.
    Depends what color:

unless you work construction and you are talking about nails that you hammer and you just happen to pain over them or something.
I don't think it's weird, maybe not viewed as 'normal' in today's hung up society but each to their own I say.
yea sorta, unless its like a clear color....i try to paint my boyfriends nails a clear color so theyd look all shiny and healthy and stuff but he wont let me near his nails with nailpolish. lol.
    YES! VERY!
If they are goth or emo or punk, no.

Other than that yes. You would probably get made fun of.
    depends what style you are.

if your goth or scene or w/e then its pretty normal

doing a diploma in beauty specialist techniques and im writing an essay that is to be handed in tomorrow but i cant find information on how to treat them anywhere on the web! please help! How to treat minor corrugated furrows in the nails?
If they are minor then a light buff will help also try using a gentle buffing paste but as buffing is very fine filing, this will, over time, thin the nail plate if done too regularly.

You could also use a good coverage ridge filling basecoat.

How can I make my natural nails healthier after removing my acrilyc nails?

Yes trim them back all the way so when they grow out they are not weak... Remember they buffed them up so they may be thin and may require a few trims. and of course use some of the products that repair nails and make them strong.

What are your fav colors to paint your nails and toenails?

Since summer is just around the corner..what are you fav colors to paint your nails %26amp; toenails??

What color are they painted right now?

my toenails are painted white at the moment %26amp; my nails are hot pink =]What are your fav colors to paint your nails and toenails?
Pink, there's lots of different shades too What are your fav colors to paint your nails and toenails?
right now my fingernails are fuchsia and my toenails are a metallic-ish blue-purplish color. my fave fingernail polish color is an orange-hot pink color and i really like my toenails painted in the color i have on them right now, but once it gets to summertime i'll probably paint them a hot pink color. i also really like neon colors for my fingernails
For nails, I love white :)

Like how Miley Cyrus has them. There are recent pics

of her with white nail pollish.

Or I like a clear, or blue or purple. And green is awesome, especially when I'm in a preppy mood :)

And for toenails, I love white, haha. And rainbow.

My friend painted them like skittle colors before, it was so funny%26lt;3

    But cute xD
Pink is always good. Sometimes i do a blue, green, maybe a yellow. uuhh, I do purple, and white, red, orange, and MAYBE black. Depends. uuhh....Sometimes i just don't do it one color, do like, french nails and stuff. But, those are the colors i use.
    Coral, purple, red, blue.

I love bright coloured nails. But i also like really calm neutral tones.

    Depends on what i'm wearing.

Right now they are bare because i planned on giving myself a little manicure tonight, but got distracted.

So tomorrow i'm going for a reddish pink colour :)
I like bright off the wall colors on my toes. Right now I have on a gorgeous fuchsia. I enjoy a bright orange, green, hot, hot pink or even a glorious yellow.

I leave my nails pink and white because I use my hands a lot and nail polish fades too quickly.
i always do hot pink, unless there is a school game or show ect then they are red with yellow letters spelling ';MOUAT'; (on the left) and ';HAWKS'; (on the right)

my toes are usually a light shade of pink and or light/deep shade of whatever my fingers are.
RED is definitely the best color to paint nails ever. I think they're so classy.. darker red for the winter, and lighter red for the summer.

I also like to paint my nails really dark blue for summer because it reminds me of sailors %26amp; nautical things!
Well, it's not really a summer color, but I often paint them a light shimmery silver. It's simple, chic, and goes with everything. I like really crazy color, too...oranges, blues, neons, bright magentas, etc. =D
My nails are painted black.(i just painted them, and no im not emo //_;)

i just like the color. its classy. but my fav is french manicure. but i have to go to the salon for that bc i dont have a steady hand :(

your combo sounds really pretty :)
It may be spring but this year its all about wild colors.Currently my nails are painted marine scene(clorine colored blue with shimmer) toenails simple pink.right now bronze shimmer gold and blues( no blacks) yellow ,oranges and simple pinks and red if u want.
I like to paint them electric blue, a really bright orange, white and sometimes black on my fingernails, never toes. It looks gross.

Right now my fingernails are white and my toenails are pink.
eh...i like black. I also like red and neon colors are pretty cool. Especially for summer. But that's just my opinion. And right now my nails are a really pretty dark purple almost black.
I like pink or a red, i normally dont paint my nails, and my toes have a french tip i like to keep it classy. but im sure ill will switch it up.
I love to paint my nails...

    -coral pink/orange

-white with a gold shimmery over-coat

    -light sky blue

    -bright purple

they are pink coral right now
dark colors: purple, brown, black, ...

but in the Summer, I use the other colors, sometimes

    ~*~
    for nails... hot pink

    toes.... black

    right now,.... fingers are peach

    and toes are creamy pink

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?…
right now mine are like a sapphire blue...i use black, pink, i have a really pretty green, and the blue which is my fav
Red!!! My fingernails are red right now (the summery, bright kind of red) and, because I didn't feel like painting my toenails, I just left them the color they were last week: pink. :D
hot pink rocks. ..love the one with sparkles.

i also like crimson red for more formal/sexy affairs but hot pink for casual is fun.
Well, since I'm 40 I have a french manicure on my hands and my toenails are dark red.

But if I was still young enough to pain them any color at all, they would both be black!! :)
my toes are either orange and greeen most always, and my fingers are usually pink, red or orange.
I don't usually paint my nails, but I occasionally do my toenails.

I always paint them a bright, rich red. It works well with my pale skin.
HOT PINK! RED 4 TOENAILS, HAWT PINK 4 FINGER NAILS!
    hmm

    a really dark purple somtimes.

or a crimson red with a clear coat on top.

i also like light cute summery colours

light blue light purple pink light greeen

it gets you into the mood :)
Coral is really nice and yellow

thats how i paint mine well not both at the same time though one color at a time
black, because i like to cut myself

personally on girls i prefer white and red.
something original like blue, green, or something like that! my toes are dark blue right now ^_^
Neon colors like Hot pink, lime green, electric blue, lemon yellow and I like having french tips. =]
a frenchie, pink, purple, or emerald.
    black, purple, white, basically anything i guess but those are the main ones X }}

Do the caps you put on the dogs nails to prevent scratching on the hardwood floors worK?

we just put a new beautiful hardwood floor in with a medallion in the middle. we want to get a dog but we do not want the floor scratched.Do the caps you put on the dogs nails to prevent scratching on the hardwood floors worK?
The caps come off, and are on the expensive side. Also, the one dog I've seen have it done, screamed bloody murder when getting them applied. This same dog was always fine for his nails being trimmed, and having them pushed on to his toes seemed to be painful. I refused to apply them to any dog after seeing this. I felt bad for the dog.

Some dogs have long quicks (the nerve inside the nail) naturally and you won't be able to take the nails as short as you'd like. Weekly nail trims can help to make the quicks recede. Some groomers offer free nail trims in between grooms if you are a regular grooming client. Others charge between 5-15 dollars to get nails done.Do the caps you put on the dogs nails to prevent scratching on the hardwood floors worK?
I have hardwood flooring as well, I also have five dogs and a cat. My dogs weight ranges from 11 pounds all the way up to 120 pounds. We've only had to buff out one or two scratches, and its only when we skip a grooming trip.

As long as you keep the nails trimmed and filed down, you'll be fine. However, if you skip a grooming trip, you're bound to find a scratch or two, but they can be buffed out or even filled in, depending on the depth and length.

I wasn't aware that they had caps for dogs' nails, I knew they had them for cats, but not for dogs.
The smaller the dog / the more diligently you keep the nails trimmed down / covered the fewer problems you'll have. Our vet sells some stuff that melts down like paraphen (like hot wax) that you can tip trimmed nails in. Just realize its going to be a lot of upkeep. Best bet is a small dog that won't make big gouges and do regular manicures ;). The actual caps tend to come off a lot in my experience.
if your dogs nails are kept at the proper length then they should not touch the floor, if your dog has dark nails and you don't want to clip them yourself you can get a vet or groomer to show you the right length to keep them.
Just don't let in the room with the wood floors.

Or have it as an outdoor pet, if you have a fenced in yard.

I've never heard of caps over dogs nails.
Small dog with nails clipped. Not declawed, clipped. Problem happened with my teacher's dog. Kept clomping around and making noise during piano lessons
A smaller dog will not scratch it, and neither will a big dog if you keep them trimmed properly. We have a 45 pound dog and a 25 pound dog, no scratches yet!
Try having the nails drimmeled instead of clipped. That way there are no sharp nail edges. Just rounded off smooth short nail.
Keep the dogs nails clipped, and scratch marks will be kept to a minimum. Have the groomer do the nails monthly.

I have a Bostitch N16 nail gun and cant get the right nails. Its an older model and the newer nails I get at the Depot dont work. Anyone have a few nails laying around with the numbers on the box. Thanx GeneWhat framing nails go in a bostitch n16 %26gt;?
not 100% sure, this site might help. Found some #'s for you, but check with pictures of your nailer on the site to be sure. What framing nails go in a bostitch n16 %26gt;?
It seems to take a clipped head nail that is wire collated. An unusual combination, to say the least. I found a place that carries them, but you may want to search with some of the other nail gun models to see if you can find them locally, or at least cheaper online. Good luck.
You need to go to home-depot or Lowe's for this info. the nails have a degree angle on them and if it is not right they will not work. And some are held together with paper and some with plastic.

What is a good way to make your nails grow?

What is a good way to make your nails grow? What is a good way to make your nails grow?
don't bit themWhat is a good way to make your nails grow?
There's some special nail polish out there that you can buy at Wal-Mart or any ol' place that specifically says it's to lengthen and strengthen your nails within a matter of days or weeks. But if you live in a cold area, or it's in the cold months, your nails, much like your hair, will grow slower. The warmer the weather is, the faster your nails grow. Not significantly, though. So don't depend on the weather alone. Look at that polish. :)
Nail growth, like hair growth and height is sort of a genetic thing so if they are getting to a certain length and stopping, that might be why. If they peel or tear or are weak, you can encourage healthy growth by using a nail hardener. Nailtiques has a few different kinds for different problems. Nailtek is the generic and works just as well and is about half the price. Also, don't use your nails as tools.
Use nailpolish that help make your nails

    grow.

They are a sign of a lack of calcium and vitamins in one's diet. What are those little white dots in your nails stand for?
Sometimes it can be a calcium deficency. (Not enough of it.) Sometimes it can be from bumping your hand on something. Kinda like mini bruises under your nail.
    it is where you hit your finger...but some people say that ';It is how many men you will date';
They are bruises from bumping your fingernail on something.
it's a sign of malnutrition or a lack of vitamins
    vitamin defency. my opion?
    Lack of calcium.
    Calcium deposits.

Funny how many people said ';Lack of calcium';. That's a myth. :)

It's not because there's not enough, it's from having TOO MUCH. It is from NOT ENOUGH zinc. Zinc helps break down calcium in one's body. Too much calcium and not enough zinc to help the body absord it and BAM, you have calcium deposits. It's common and no big deal.

If the body has too much calcium, it can form calcium deposits. Calcium in the fingernails make them so soft they tear instead of break.
.bruises yes nails get bruised too
that indicates that ur body needs more vitamines and calciam
it means each mark represents how much botfriends you have ...(Lol) actually it means a lack of calcium

they dont stand for ne thing. there bruises that u got while ur nail was still soft and under the skin. my friends used to tell me when i was little that if u count the white spots on ur nails thats how many boy were thinking about u.

Do finger nails grow faster at sea level?

I was once told that finger nails, toe nails, and hair grow faster at sea level than they would in say Denver, Colorado. Your thoughts please.Do finger nails grow faster at sea level?
at high altitudes, there is less oxygen. Oxygen is required for cellular resipiration to produce ATP and as we all know ATP is provides the energy to carry out metabolic functions like cell division. So in this way it is possible for slower growth of fingernails at higher altitudes but it definately will not be noticable.

Furthermore, at higher altitudes the the air pressure is lower which can lead to altitude sickness. some symptoms of this are loss of appetite, vomitting etc. so pretty much you eat less and anything you eat comes out so the body receives less nutrients. less nutrients=slower cellular division=slower nail growth

Usually, 5 on the front and 4 on the back. Some dogs can have as much as 6 on the front and 6 on the back! Some dogs have their dewclaws removed, so some may have less. Sadly, breeders think that dewclaws need to be removed, when in actuality, they don't.
Usually 5 in the front and 4 in the back for each paw. Sometimes dogs have extra toes in the back that have nails on them. My dog Lola has extra toes and i have to trim the nail just like any other toe. its kinda funny lol.
4 in back, 4 in front with a dew claw.
5 the front paws 4 the back paws
it depends on breed some have 5 front 4 back my eskimo has 4 front 4 back

  • How do i keep the underside of my nails from getting dirty?

I hate having to clean them every night. I'm getting very frustrated! How do i keep the underside of my nails from getting dirty?
    well, your two options are

    1. cut them

    2. keep cleaningHow do i keep the underside of my nails from getting dirty?
Most of the time, dirt collecting under your nails is a result of oils attracting the dirt. Avoid touching your hair, face or other things that are greasy/oily. This will prevent dirt from sticking under your nails.

If you cannot avoid such contact with that, good old soap and water does the trick.
hmm i dont really think there are ways to keep them from not getting dirty,,,

if you wanna have long nails its just part of taking care of them.

i use nailpolish and then u dont see the dirt,, or fake nails...

but other than that its just how it goes

What age is appropriate for fake glue on nails?

I can get mine to last for 7-10 days in general but I'm a nail tech so apply them as I would for acrylics or gel.

You will need pure acetone, nail file and cotton buds/qtips

Make sure hands are clean and grease free. Soap and water clean before even touching the fakes

Size up your nails, file to fit if need be, laying them out in the order that they will be applied. Always go a size up if there is no exact fit, you can file it down to size but an over tight nail will pinch your own nail and can do permanent damage.

Score the underside of the artificial nail with a nail file, this is cross hatching and enables a much better bond.

Dip cotton bud into acetone and run it over your REAL nail a couple of times.

Dab nail glue onto crosshatched area of FALSE nail and press firmly onto your own nail, hold for 10 seconds for maximum adhesion

Using acetone removes some of the natural oils that are present in your nail plate. Its oils in the nail plate that make nails and glue separate. Depending on how oily your nail plate is you should get around a week from your nails if you apply using this method. What age is appropriate for fake glue on nails?
    They're never appropriate.

Gluing those things onto your nails is pretty much like asking for a bacterial infection.

If you get any air bubbles in between the fake nail and your nail, moisture can get in and cause bacteria to start forming. Also if you don't remove them properly, you'll damage your nails.

It would be a lot better if you get them done by a professional. It'll cost more, but it'll last a heck of a lot longer than any glue on.What age is appropriate for fake glue on nails?
i was about 13 when i regularly put them on :)

    im 15 now.

+ it depends what sort you have.

my ones are about 拢8 a pack, but for 2 like uses.

i bought them in boots in england :) if you're from england lol, just in case your not..

but they're called 'Real Life' with all the other nails :)

basically all I did was to make sure that I had enough glue on them, and pressed down hard. They always fall off after about 2 weeks anyway, but you can always restick them.

you have to be careful when you're doing certain stuff though lol, so be careful when pushing down on things lol :)

How much would it be for glitter tips on natural nails? How about a French manicure on natural nails but asking them to change the colors (ex. instead of white tips, red tips.)

  • How short should i cut my toy poodle nails?

I read online and they mention you have to cut your pet's nails at only the curving area .. but sometimes my toy poodle's nails can hardly be seen with curing area. When ever i carry him, his nails always poke through my skin and give a scratch. When am i suppose to do?How short should i cut my toy poodle nails?
I thought that I'd throw this out there:

It's actually a bad idea to trim claws at all. Claws should be kept short by road walking. I was told this by my dogs groomer (who had nothing to gain and money to lose by telling me this). Basically, if you keep cutting a dogs claws, its nerve endings will grow. This means in old age that the nerve endings could outgrow the claws which would make walking an extremely painful experience for them. Keeping claws trim through walking is a safe and healthy alternative.

But if you insist on the cutting the claws, get a professional to do it. Missing the mark will cause excessive blood and pain for your furry friend. How short should i cut my toy poodle nails?
you cut to the quick depending on the color of the nail black nails you will see a black dot right before the quick brown you will see a brown dot or the clear ones you wi ll see a flesh colored dot take the nail and do it little by little till you see the dot, after that file it with a nail file so it is not sharp after a dogs nails get cut they are very sharp, or you could get teh pedipaw, or if you are still uncertain take your dog to a groomer most will do just nails for a small fee we charge for a toy pdl $6 just for nails.
The best way to do this is by using nail trimmers for dogs. If you do not have them, use extreme caution. If the nail is white/clear the color will change as it nears the paw. This is the quick. If you cut this, your dog will bled. If the nail is dark, do not cut too deep into the nail.
If you are unsure then get your vet or a qualified groomer to cut them. Instead of carrying him try letting him walk, that's why he has legs. Walk him on hard surfaces this will wear his claws down naturally and then you should`nt have to cut them.
take him to the vet to get them done, it's safest.

my mom tried to cut my dog's nails one time...and she will never do that again.. HORRIBLE experience...she cut too far down and my dog, Maggie, bled and bled and bled. i will NEVER forget the yelp she cried out. :/
you cut before the quick. the quick is the vein in a dogs nail.

just look at the nail and you should see a coloring difference, if you do, that is the quick.

if you cut it though, it will bleed, so be careful.

    good luck.
Cut till about a centimetre or so otherwise you might nick an artery which will result in pain and bleeding for your poodle.

When did they start using screws rather than nails to fix down coffin lids?

They were still using nails at the turn of the century. I suspect when they got away from the pine boxes, they switched to screws because they didn't damage the outside of the lid and were easier to hide.

Coffins are not meant to be opened and shut several times, but it sometimes happens that a sealed coffin must be re-opened before burial. If the deceased has been shipped in it, for instance. They need to confirm identity, open the coffin for a viewing, etc. When they started transporting bodies and using more expensive coffins, they probably went to screws.

It's very likely that Abraham Lincoln's coffin was sealed using screws, but Billy the Kid got nailed. When did they start using screws rather than nails to fix down coffin lids?
They aren't screwed or nailed. They have hinges at either end and they are closed using a crank inserted at the foot end which brings two components together (1 on the top, 1 on the bottom) and then it creates a seal. Not all caskets seal, and some simply click shut and so not seal. When did they start using screws rather than nails to fix down coffin lids?

  • Can someone tell me how to get acrylic nails off?

I got my nails professionally done almost 3 weeks ago and have decided that I don't like them anymore and want them off. Any ways I can do it myself? Can someone tell me how to get acrylic nails off?
Yeah what angelhimm said....soak for a while...Can someone tell me how to get acrylic nails off?
While Acetone Polish Remover MIGHT take them off, it would take a really long time to do so. You'd need to use straight Acetone that can be bought in the Hardware section of Wal-Mart. You have to go through a process of soaking and scraping to get the acrylic off and it too will be a lengthy process. Be very careful with Acetone; it's more flammable than gas! My advice would be to go back to the Nail Salon where you got your nails done and let them remove them for you. Not only will they remove them, they'll probably give you a manicure which you'll really need after taking the acrylic off!
It will take awhile, but soak them in acidtone (spelling?) nail polish remover and you will have to carefully pick them off
Yes, soak your nails in Acetone nail polish remover, and they will be easy to just peel off
you need to soak them in acentone nail polish remover or plane acentone, what every you do DO NOT PRY THEM OFF as you are removing them they are taking layers off of your nails, make sure you go get a very good nail strengthner or nail repair polish, been there and done that and will never do it again
soak them in acetone and they will come off easily
    S-O-A-K THEM IN ACETONE.

Use the torture process that they use in the salons, lift them and pull them off with a manicure tool.

Let them grow off, but this can be a little risky, because when your nails get too soft, you are likely to get them caught on something, because they turn backwards so easily then.

    Good Luck!

What are some good science fair topics about nails rusting?

    http://www.super-science-fair-projects.c鈥?/a>

What is the fastest way to make my nails grow?

You can't make nails grow any faster than they naturally do. That would be like asking how to make your hair grow faster. However, you can do some things that will strengthen your nails and give them an appearance of longer and healthier. These tricks will also keep your nails from splitting and breaking, which is exactly what you don't want when growing them out.

    1. Drink lots of water. Your body needs the hydration. Stay away from excessive amounts of pop (soda), caffeine and alcohol.

    2. Give yourself a once a week manicure. Here are the steps.

    - Soak hands in warm water for 2 minutes and pat dry

    - lather on a rich moisturizing cream. Work the cream into your cuticle beds.

    - Gently push back cuticles with an orange stick or cuticle wand.

    - file nails from outer corners to center. Do not use a back and forth motion as this weakens the nail and can cause splitting.

    - wipe each nail with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover.

    - apply a neutral shade of polish followed by a clear top coat. Shades that are close to your natural tones like pinks, beiges and corals will create the illusion of lengthening your fingers and nails. Deep and dark colors will appear to shorten your digits.

    3. Don't bite your nails

    4. Find a strengthening product for nails like ';Witchcraft'; or other gelatin based products. You can also soak your nails in plain clear gelatin (NOT JELLO!!!) for the same effect. Once a week treatments will do just fine.

    5. Don't use fake nails. They weaken your natural nail and can cause fungal infections that will impede your natural nail growth.

I hope this helps. Good luckWhat is the fastest way to make my nails grow?
If you buy special nail polish in the beauty section at target it has a special formula that makes your nails grow almost every brand has it!What is the fastest way to make my nails grow?
Keep them well manicured, eat healthy and take multi vitamins.
If that water thing works you let me know, haha too funny! Calcium makes them stronger but as far as growing fast, I don't know.
If you find out let me know! My nail beds a history! They grow so slow!!Sorry!
    1. Water does not make your hair or your nails grow. So soaking them in water will not do anything except make them weak and more likely to break.

    2. Vitamin E is good, or geletain is good. Back in the day people used to drink jello to make their hair and nails stronger and longer.

    3. Buy some Sally Hensen's Hard as Nails polish, they have clear and colored. Apply it every other day. This mess really does work.

    4. Also stimulating your fingers by typing or tapping them does help.

    Hope this helps, good luck!
Don't bite them and do alot of typing on the keyboard
I don't know but you could never bite them I am not sure.
Water makes them grow so soak your nails alot and takes lots of baths and showers

I agree with 90210- a good dollop of poo should do the trick! Mind you sometimes when I am changing alex's dirty nappy I wish I had no nails, there is nothing worse than baby crap under them! xxxxxAny tips on how to stop biting your nails please?
yeah it's simple.....have your mouth amputated lol
    Put chili paste on nails.
    Take your teeth out.
    i don't no sorry
i have been a nail biter for 21 year i have recently got false nails on it sure has stopped me from bitting my nails and they look so nice to.... the nail polish that taste yuck workes for a while but didn't help me in the long term. i would suggest u treat yourself and get false nails you'll love them there will be no going back
i think chessman has given you the right advice.
im a compulsive nail-biter..dnt knw..but tel me wn you find out..chew gum maybe
put hot chili peppers on your fingers so that everytime you bite it it's hot...

or get a new habit... like maybe making you hand sound lika a crack...
    Put gloves on
stick em up your bum hole that will put you off biting them !!!
    Ok Dona: Several options...

First you need to have the will (where there is a will there is a way) which i am sure you have as you would not ask this question if it were otherwise.

    Second:

Deny access to your nails, how?? Cover them, where gloves etc...

    Third:

if you can鈥檛 do the second at all times then Use green chilies, or their paste. Rub them on your nail regularly. Especially if you don't like chilies it works great.

    Last:

Tell those around you that you are planning to quit and ask for help. As it is mostly unintentional and ppl bite their nails without noticing it, tell them to remind you when ever you are at it again.
there are products out there that make your nails taste really bad...and take vitamins that will help your nails grow, there are some that even specify hair and nail growth
well i would say to find something else to chew on. like gum a straw, something that was hard like your nails.
theres a solution they sell in Boots to stop nail biting, im not sure about the name but apparently it makes your nails taste nasty.
Coat them in something vile - when you go to bite them again, you will get a nasty taste in your mouth.
Get all your teeth taken out....No seriously,I have the same problem,I know I should n't but I can't help it.My wife got me some bitter substance to paint on my nails it worked for a while...then I hid it. Go and ask at the pharmacy...but you will definitely need will-power too.
I bit mine for a while and was determined to stop. I bought this liquid called ';nail the habit';. It is available from Savers and maybe Wilkinsons. (UK) It is a liquid you put on your nails which tastes awful! So everytime you bite your nails, the taste stops you. It even stays on after you've washed your hands a few times. If not, paint your nails nicely and that way you'll know that if you bite them, you'll ruin them, or get a professional french manicure! or just think about all the germs and dirt that are in your nails that are being transferred to your mouth when you bite them! Good luck!
I to bite my nails but I havent bit on them since Christmas. I have been painting them and shaping them. Its hard I also try doing something with my hands. Like the computer or crossword puzzles. Something to keep my hands busy. Good Luck!!
haha talk bout some fuct up answers lol.if you feel the need just start doing something else and keep them cut so they dont feel long then you wont feel like you need to bite em
did u know that there r more germs under your nails than on your toilet seat if that dosnt put u off nothing will
I had the same problem. get some nail polish that promotes growth (Sally Hansen) once I had nice nails I stopped. or put nail polish on them. Gloves is a good idea or when you get the taste in your mouth brush your teeth or eat a carrot or something to get the taste out of your mouth. false ones could be a good way to go as well. Or you could just think about all the germs and bacteria that is under your nails, more than a toilet seat, so think about it...would you lick your toilet seat????
Treat yr self to some false nails, they'll look so good it may just be enough to put u off ruining them.
Nail biting, like other things, is a nervous habit. It's hard to stop a habit of any kind, no matter what it's original cause was. The idea of having some fake nails applied may work. If something is over top of your nails, you won't be able to bite them. You can get them trimmed to ANY length you like and painted or not. You can even apply them yourself. Can buy them almost anywhere, even dollar stores. The glue that holds them is pretty strong so they shouldn't come off too soon. If they do, put them back. You can also use a product on your own nails called Hard As Nails by Sally Hansen. It is kinds like clear nail polish and will deter biting and strengthen them too. They do sell some stuff at the drugstore for parents to put on kids thumbs to discourage thumb sucking. It will work with nail biting too. You need to deter yourself in SOME way till you break the habit. It won't take as long as you think. Once you start to see how nice your own nails an become, this should be a motivating factor to stop too. Keep them polished all the time. There are hundreds of colors and techniques for applying various other things to your nails too that are neat. Air brush a design on them, decals that stick, flowers, etc. Be creative.

What's a good way to get my nails to grow faster?

I had fake nails over top, but now that they are off, my nails are brittle and several of them broke. I want them to grow faster and stronger so they can look nicer. What's a good way to get my nails to grow faster?
Use Sally Hansen's Daily Grown Nail Treatment. It hardens your nails over time and they grow the same week you use it.

Good Luck!!!What's a good way to get my nails to grow faster?
You don't need all that fancy crap. I use to wear fake nails all the time and it made my nails thin and weak. All you need to do is not wear fake nails for months and just file and take care of them as usual. I assure you they will grow stronger and faster, naturally.
There is a clear nail polish which makes them grow faster and harder. My friends (girls) use to own them. By the way its for natural nails too. It takes some weeks.

Any tips I need to know about laying a rolling roof? Do we need to put nails on the bottom of the shingles?

We have a 45 degree roof. We will be reroofing with new tar paper and rolling roof shingles. We are new homeowners, any info will be helpful.Any tips I need to know about laying a rolling roof? Do we need to put nails on the bottom of the shingles?
you start at the bottom of the roof and work up to the top. this way the water runs down the roof and doesnt enter any of the overlaps. do not nail the botom only the tops and make sure the nails are covered by the next rollAny tips I need to know about laying a rolling roof? Do we need to put nails on the bottom of the shingles?
Start at the top and only use roofing nails on the top of the rolls. Space your nails about 6 inches apart.

Most roofing rolls have lines showing where the nails should be.
I have been in the construction business for over 30 years. I have never heard of a rolling roof!! What I suspect you are talking about is a 3 tab or architectural shingle. in which case only accepts nails at the top of the shingle. The amount of nails depends on the building code. Some areas require more nails than others. never have I ever seen shingles nailed at the bottom when properly done.

  • How can I cut my 4 year old cats nails without him screamming?

When I cut my cat's nails, I sit on the floor with my legs crossed. I cradle him with one arm while I cut his nails with the other hand. I also talk to him to comfort him while I cut his nails. How can I cut my 4 year old cats nails without him screamming?
I went to the vet and he gave me a mild seditive to give to him before they cut his nails.

How can I cut my 4 year old cats nails without him screamming?
I hope you are not cutting him too deep. This is very painful for the cat, no wonder he is screaming! Just cut the tips. Or take him to the vet for 5 bucks and let them do it.
    Just cut the very tips
He really shouldn't be screaming - maybe angry cause you're restricting his movment, but not screaming. Maybe you're cutting too far down. Look closely when you push on the pad of his foot to make the nails come out. You can see a darker white inside of the nail, DON'T cut this. Where you see it thin out and disappear is the furthest down you should clip. Get the nail clippers made for pets from a pet store - they make a nice clean cut. I've used regular ';human'; nail clippers, but they tend to shred the nail a bit, which can be uncomfortable later for a kitty. Oh, and ditto on sitting him between your legs. Give him treats, pet him, clip one paw, give another treat, pet, clip another paw, and so on. Don't turn him upside down. If he REALLY hates being held, then wrap him in a towel. Good luck!

I got fake nails today and my thumb and middle fingers hurt like crazy when i apply pressure?

The other fingers are fine, but like i text message non stop and use my thumbs and texting hurts.

should i remove them or give it a night and then give them the boot?

thanks!I got fake nails today and my thumb and middle fingers hurt like crazy when i apply pressure?
OUCH!! I forgot about that feeling!! Its normal for them to hurt the day and maybe even the day after getting them put on!!!

But it does go away, and your nails will feel fine. But that is one of the reasons i wont get fake nails...and cause my real nails look like crap after the fake ones are taken off!!

If texting hurts ya, cool it for awhile and give your nails a break!

Good luck!I got fake nails today and my thumb and middle fingers hurt like crazy when i apply pressure?
Give it a night, it usually hurts for a little while but eventually stops, my suggestion wouldbe to limit the texting because that will just irritate them more. :-]
The nail beds are most likely bruised from all the pressure, filing, and buffing they did to them today.

Lay off the test messaging. What is with everyone and this constant text messaging anyway?
my nails are always sore \after the first few days i have them on

i wouldnt take them off if i were u

What kind of nails would be best for ONE time only?

I just need to get my nails done for an event coming up... I know gel nails are REALLY hard on your natural nail, I don't know much about acryllic or silk.

What is the safest type of nail to get if i'm only going to be doing it once? I want minimal damage to my natural nails..What kind of nails would be best for ONE time only?
i would get nail tips cuz there easier to come off and there not expensive at all What kind of nails would be best for ONE time only?
Hey, are you going into a salon to get it done or are you trying to do it yourself? If you are going into a salon ask if they can put a temp set on. It will be both less expensive and less damaging to your nails. A temp set is where they put the ';tips'; on your nail as if they were gonna put acrylic nails on and then they just buff out the seam where your nail meets the tip and then apply a thin layer of the gel that goes with the fiber glass or silk nail systems. Then the last step is to paint it. This nails are meant to last only a day or two at the most, after that time they will ';break off'; which will not affect the nail underneath the tip.
I would not say that gels are hard on your natural nail. I have them at the moment and they are very practical. From information over the internet, I have found that most people prefer Gel nails because: they 'do not' affect your natural nail (if taken off with care), they strengthen your nails with the ingredients in the gel, they are odorless and are protected from UV rays.

Acrylic nails are much worse for your nails because they carry bacteria under the nail and this causes nail diseases - sometimes severe. They are also painful when taking them off if done unprofessionally. I know this because my friend found it painful when removing them.

Before I got my Gel nails done a couple of days ago I did alot of research before I got it done. And I found that Gels were the best but they can be quite expensive. Mine cost 拢30.

I suggest Gels then for you because since you already bite your nails the Gels will strengthen them for when they are removed.
Mmh. Well when I want to have my nails done for just one night I go to walmart or Walgreen's and get those nails you can put on yourself. They last about a day ot two. They have them in different types so you can get a french tip or whatever design you like

Have any of you never trimmed your guinea pigs nails, and the guinea pig was fine?

Thanks! Any more tips on why I should do it is fine too.Have any of you never trimmed your guinea pigs nails, and the guinea pig was fine?
    Yes, the piggie was fine.

Just be careful about clipping too short and cutting into the quick. Make sure you have some corn starch on hand, just in case you do cause bleeding. You just put some powder on the nail, and apply a little pressure until the bleeding stops.

If you're nervous, any vet should be able to do this for you.Have any of you never trimmed your guinea pigs nails, and the guinea pig was fine?
My gran didn't cut her guinea pigs nails for a year once, and they curved into the poor guinea pigs foot and had to be removed by a vet.. it was very infected.

Guinea pigs HAVE to have them cut every month, all you do is get some nail clippers and cut the tip off, make sure the vein isn't cut though.
Of course. The guinea pig will squirm, but it doesn't hurt them unless you clip to far into the nail. If you don't feel comfortable clipping them yourself, a vet will do it for a flat price per guinea pig.
a guinea pigs nails must be trimmed at least once a month give or take. If they are not trimmed they will grow out of control and make it hard for them to walk, and can also grow into their feet causing infection.
I have a dog and I know their nails are very sensitive and I usually take him to a professional!!
yea lol but we gave our guinea pigs away the other day ):

oh and yes be careful of cutting it too short. it will cause the nailsto bleed, ouch!

Why are my nails white mostly around my cuticles after shower/bath?

I used to bite my nails and now I quit, but after I take a shower or a bath my nails become white on the area close to the cuticle, almost half my nails. Instead of being clear and shiny, they're white and they have a weird texture, not flaky [yet] though.

I've been using oil on them and my left hand is better, but there has been no improvement on my right hand.

What could be the cause? Why are my nails white mostly around my cuticles after shower/bath?
the skin underneath your nails have soften and so has your nails. This is caused by the water, your body is mostly made up of water so it's no surprise when you bath that it would have an effect like water wrinkles. Don't worry to much, it could also be the cause of needed vitamins and protein. Instead of using oil try getting a small bottle of vitamin E, cut a tablet and use the liquid inside on your nails. Hopefully it will help, if not you might need to start moisturizing your skin or look to see if by chance you've had an allergic reaction. Go to a doctor if your really worried and nothing seems to help.

    Good luck鈾?!

  • I bite my nails until they bleed, so I got acrylic tips. How does ';filling'; work? Details inside...?

How do they fill up the new nail growth?

Are they able to file down the nails a bit? They're getting kinda long and I like to keep them somewhat short.

Does it cost as much as getting a set of tips?

Can the color be removed and repainted?

I'm a newbie, lol, sorry!I bite my nails until they bleed, so I got acrylic tips. How does ';filling'; work? Details inside...?
What they do is either melt off the acrylic overlay with acetone, or they sort of grind it off with their little power drill thing. Then your fake nail/remaining acrylic is ground smooth, and a protective coating is put on your natural nail.

It's essentially the same process as getting them on to start with. And yes, they can cut/file them down, and into what ever shape you like. Sometimes they'll use nail clippers, other times they'll be ground down. Depends on the manicurist.

After that, they smooth out the overlay, and put on the paint.I bite my nails until they bleed, so I got acrylic tips. How does ';filling'; work? Details inside...?
your nails keep growing. they will need to apply the acrylic to the new growth. that is a fill. It should be about 1/2 the price of the full set. But every repair you have will also cost you extra. Which will probably be pretty many if your nails that short underneath. Yes you can take the color off and reapply if you use nonacetone polish remover.
haha they use the same powder stuff that was put over the tips before only they go down further to were the natural nail is showing yes they will file them if they are getting too long it cost less than getting the entire tips if you want different color tips youll have to get themdone all over with new tips
To answer one of your questions she didn't..

it doesn't cost as much! :)

%26amp; they can recolor and repaint it anyway you'd like :)

Is it normal for a cat to bite its nails?

my cat always bites its nails, and some of them are jagged and uneven, is this normal? Is it normal for a cat to bite its nails?
Sure, it's normal...you need to check to see if they need trimmed. He may be trimming them, or maybe something is missing in his diet. Another sign is if he eats grass when he goes outside...

Some kitties just don't care for scratching posts, but you could try that, too...Is it normal for a cat to bite its nails?
yes it's another way to help the old nail off, otherwise a scratching post or tree bark helps to get the old paw nails off.
Only if you have a cat who is extremely nervous. They'll tend to stand on two feet and bite the nails on the two front paws while frowning. This generally creates an impression of deep thought. However, most humans ignore this because it is logically impossible and thus, what cannot be possible, our mind chooses to ignore for us.
My female hates having her nails trimmed by me so I usually do it every month or so. In between she will try to bite them herself, I guess when she gets uncomfortable.

I'd try to trim them or have them trimmed because cats scratch things (mine stick to their toys/posts) in order to get the hull off their claws so if they are indoors you need to do it for them or have them trimmed.
yeah.. sometimes they do that to clean their nails.. i normally trim my cat's nails... and they still do that..
yes it is normal he/she is just grooming thats all have a nice day.
Yes, lots of cats do it. I trim both of my cats nails, but my male still bites his on occasion.
