I do get pedicures once a month but i have recently been thinking about getting a full set of fingernails. I get my pedicures at the first of each month. I had my last pedicure on sunday and im wearing red nail polish on my toes. Is this weird that i want to have acrylic fingernails?Im a guy and i want to get my nails done professionally at a beauty salon. I want a set of acrylic fingernails
Not really. I have a lot of musician friends that regularly get their nails professionally done. You're just ahead of the curve, others will be doing the same in a few years. Who would have thought 20 years ago that guys would be wearing earrings, talking on phones or styling their hair the way they do now?
Feel free to look and feel as fabulous as you wanna!!! =]Im a guy and i want to get my nails done professionally at a beauty salon. I want a set of acrylic fingernails
Yes it is wierd. Those are for girls.
Lol! If you want to get acrilycs, hey by all means go and get 'em! Im not one to judge... Honestly though, if i were a girl at the salon and i saw you come in and ask for acrilycs, i would think you were a bit off. But, you know what, i would eventually get over it. The decision is all yours. If you want your nails to look pretty, and want them all done, even hardcore girlie acrilycs, go and do it! Dont give a freakin rats butt about what peaople are going to think or say! You are your own person... go and fulfill your most wildest dreams!
Dude! That stuff is for girls.
um, some what yes,
but i think i'd be kind of sexy :D
It's certainly not mainstream for guys to wear their nails long and painted, but hey, you can do what you want - it's a free world!
I know a number of guys that do this regularly. There are even many forums and discussions online about it (just try searching on any combination of the words ';men, guys, painted, nails, polish, nail';. I've even had my toenails painted on occasion (once by my g/f!) and it looks pretty decent if you're careful what color you use (brown, gray, silver, maybe blue or maroon).
I'm not sure why you would want to wear your nails painted. Most gals are not going to be real crazy about it. There are a few open-minded people that will not mind, you may even get a few compliments, but you'll have to endure the looks and negative comments from many others.
My advice if you just want to see how it feels is to go ahead and try it. Most salons will not care as long as you pay them (and don't forget to tip!). Wearing you fingernails long and brightly painted will probably not get you many job offers.
No, it's not that weird. I've heard of guys wanting to get weirder things done.

What type of doctor would I consult about weak nails?
My nails grow very thin - I've tried changing my diet, painting them, and even using the Sally Hansen's nail strengthener, and they still rip off; I wanted to know what sort of doctor would know about how to help me?What type of doctor would I consult about weak nails?
I have always had the same problem and tried everything. There are only 2 things that work super-well (I've worked at 3 different high-end day spas) There is a polish that you apply daily that will work it is called ';staring over'; and it has a greenish tint. You have to be diligent and apply exactly as it says or it will not help. The other thing is pre-natal vitamins. They make you hair and nails both grow stronger and thicker. I used to constantly break and tear nails, and they never seemed to grow. Now I have to cut them weekly because they are so long (and much stronger) People I work with thought I had artificial nails. I'm telling you those are the 2 BEST!! Hope you try it!!What type of doctor would I consult about weak nails?
A dermatologist is the physician of choice for this condition.
I would definately have it checked as thin / brittle nails could be a symptom of other significant conditions.
Take biotin or ';hair skin and nalis'; availablr at any salon. Maybe its a dermatologist.
Take Biotin, it's a supplement and has made a HUGE difference in my nails. Also drink lots of water.
PS The Doctor wouldn't beable to help you anyway. They don't ';get it'; that you can correct some health problems with nutrition!

Nails........?
I just got a full set of acrylic nails on with white tips. I dont want the white tips on anymore. If i use nail polish remover to take off the white tips, will it make my nails come off? cause i dont want it tooNails........?
No the nails WILL NOT come off just from rubbing the polish remover across them. If they are soaked for a period of time in a bowl of polish remover then they will come off. When and if you go back to the nail salon, they will use polish remover to remove your old polish and designs and you will see that the nails don't come off.Nails........?
You can get them off yourself but trust me they are going to hurt. If you want to pay then go to the salon and do it there if not then do them on your own. I have done it before.
How about let the fake nails come off and actually grow your own nails. Stop biting.
non-acetone nail polish remover will not take your nails off, but it might take the shine off. if the white tips were airbrushed or painted on, then this will come off and just use a great topcoat such as clear opi. if the white tips were part of the acrylic, then the white will not come off. your best bet would be to paint your nails over it.
as long as you use NON-acetone nail polish remover you should be OK. But to be on the safe side be gentle and use a kleenex instead of a cotton ball. Also you could always just paint over the tips and if you use and opaque color it won't show through.
try it and see what happens. then try letting your real nails grow. it will be worth it in the end. i was a biter once upon a time and i don;t anymore.
i dont think so/
You can use non-acetone nail polish, but don't soak your nails in it, use a cotton ball to remove it. They will be kind of sticky feeling for a little while. Let it dry, then if they need it buff them to smooth them. You can paint them with color or not, but you need to at least put a clear coat on them to make them shiny again.
If the tips were white to begin with, I would try to paint over them, but you probably need to have them taken off, or have the nail salon paint over them. I would wait until it is time to have them filled in and ask the person filling them in what she/he would recommend.
hmmm it could possilbly
If you use an acetone base nail polish remover it will take off the nail if i where you I would go back to the shop and have them fix it for you it shouldn't cost you very much now if they airbrushed the tip white then polish remover wont take it off. Call your nail shop and ask them.
I would go to the salon and get them to re-paint tehm. Or if you use nail polish remover get the non-acitone that will do the trick!
well i dont think so because the acrylic is the top layer not the polish
non-acetone nail polish remover, found at most stores. will take of the paint but not mess with the glue that holds the nail the the acrylic nail.

Has anyone bought or used one of those New gadjets that run on batteries and file there nails?
Before I buy one I want feedback from as many who have bought this and used it and the results they got also is it very loud? My one cat spooks really easy, I don't know why I have had him sice a kitten.
ThanksHas anyone bought or used one of those New gadjets that run on batteries and file there nails?
No but I want one and I have the same question. I've heard that they are pretty good, like a Dremel just quieter. They're about $30 at their website and more on Ebay! Has anyone bought or used one of those New gadjets that run on batteries and file there nails?
I have no experience with cats but received one for my dog yesterday. It is very very quiet. It works great and did not spook my dog at all. I am thrilled with it. It took several weeks to get it because they are selling fast. It was definitely worth the wait.

Do you finger pick with finger tips or finger nails on guitar?
Please help I seen in one book picking with the finger nail and then in another they said to trim your finger nails really short so you can use the finger tips.Do you finger pick with finger tips or finger nails on guitar?
You'll tear up your fingernails grinding against the metal strings, but you could use fake nails. That seems to be growing in popularity.
You may tear up your skin, on the other (same) hand, though.
Fingertips give you more control of dynamics, in my experience.Do you finger pick with finger tips or finger nails on guitar?
Ive known people that have done both. Generally speaking, the harder the material you use to pluck the string (like fingernails or picks), the sharper the sound. The softer the material (like fingertips) the more dulled, softer the sound. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I personally can't see growing out my fingernails simply to use for finger picking, it would seem too impractical in every other aspect of my life.
Finger tips..I can't play guitar at all with long finger nails...especially with the other hand that you use for the frets. I find the nails get in the way with both hands.
well you can do both really which ever is easier for you they are both acceptable, depends on player preference and style

What us the best blown in insulation to use, I knwo there is one that pops nails out of drywall?
But do not recall what type it is. Thanks in advanceWhat us the best blown in insulation to use, I knwo there is one that pops nails out of drywall?
Blown in where? Attic? Ive never heard of nail pops from insulation. You need to be more specific please. What us the best blown in insulation to use, I knwo there is one that pops nails out of drywall?
You must be talking about foam insulation in a wall. I wouldn't do that, because you can't control the expansion. I used Boracel, a chopped up paper with boron to make it fireproof about 30 years ago in Indiana. They call it cellulose now. It may swell if it is wet. Vermiculite (expanded mica 0 is expensive, but won't swell and mice don't like it.

Why are my nails so dry, small and rough? How to make them look bigger?
My nails are really ugly. They are so small and I don't have the ';moon';. My thumbs looks like toes and near the cuticle area it's so dry and rough and have so much excess cuticle. They come back everytime I get rid of them and really tiring me. My white tips are also not straight. They are like crooked. I really want to have those nice big nails. However I don't want an artificial ones. Can someone help me on how to make them at least moist and appear bigger? Thank you.Why are my nails so dry, small and rough? How to make them look bigger?
You may have a fungal infection at the nail bed, if you can't afford to go to your doctor the pop into your local chemist and ask his/her opinion. Then you can start from there. A very small number of the population have genetic/hereditary stubbing of the fingers usually the thumb. Without actually seeing your nails it is hard to say. If it is fungal then get that treated, once clear you can look at your lifestyle and dietary needs, your doctor may need to do some blood tests, and get you to see a Dietitian.
Care of the nails can only be started after you get the underlying cause fixed. Why are my nails so dry, small and rough? How to make them look bigger?
Well it sounds like you need more calcium. Calcium supplies the nails with strength and prevents them from becoming dry. Green vegetables, daily supplements, dairy products will bring up your Calcium. And don't bite your nails.
Take Solgar gelatin capsules 2 daily, eat yogurts, drink milk, and take calcium supplements and get Tips nailpolish at QVC and use it.

the water either shrinks your skin, making the nail look longer, or either the moisture is making it look slimmer. and the water does make it more flexible because it is softening it.bebo

Will the pink part of guinea pig nails reside after cutting the nail?
I got a couple of guinea pigs a few days ago and the owner never cut it I dont think and they were starting to curl I cut them as far as I could without hitting the pink part (Or black on one foot XD) but they are still pretty long. Will the pink on the nail reside so I can cut it further? ThanksWill the pink part of guinea pig nails reside after cutting the nail?
Yes, the vein inside your pigs' nails should recede gradually. Wait to trim them for a couple weeks at least, and shine a flashlight underneath their nails to get a better look at exactly how short it's safe to cut. When in doubt, move a tiny bit farther out.
Glad to hear someone's taking care of their pets! It's a shame that people let their guinea pig's nails get that long...it really hurts them. Will the pink part of guinea pig nails reside after cutting the nail?
Yes, the pink part on the nail apparently WILL reside after you cut the nail. It never happened to my guinea pigs, but on sites, and stuff it says that.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!
Most likely not. Next time that your guinea pigs' nails get long, you should take them to the vet. That way, you can ask your vet ANY questions that you have about the nails, and, you can watch how to really cut the nails, good and all! I hope that this answers your question! Thanks, and, good luck,
~ Future Vet,

As they are so long, cut a little bit off once a week. They will reside during that week so that you can effectively cut further. Once you have the nails to the appropriate length, clipping nails should only need to be done once a month.

Is it normal to bite the skin around your nails?
My sister and I both have this problem. We bite our nails, but we also bite the skin all around them, sometimes to the point where they bleed. Everybody I know thinks it's pretty gross. I think so too, but it's a bad habit. We've been doing this for most of our lives.
Does anybody else do that?Is it normal to bite the skin around your nails?
i do it. it's nasty but i can't help it, i run out of nail and i like to chew on it!
eww that was a gross confession...Is it normal to bite the skin around your nails?
I do it too! I really really hate it, but I just really can't stop :( :( :( :( I have tried chewing gum whenever i can, but i go to school and can't have gum in school (School is where i usually bite) and i have rubbed like everything on them and ahh!! Help!! :( :( :( It's just gross...
I find myself doing that sometimes, especially if I've run out of nail to bite. I don't go so far as to make them bleed, but I've definitely made my fingertips a bit ragged-looking at times. I also bite at my hangnails, but that's just because I don't have the patience to wait until I can get to a nail-clipper (as if I'm unconsciously afraid of getting them caught on something).
It's normal, not healthy, but normal. Especially when your nervous. I used to do it, but it looks really bad. The lady that does my nails told me to put either rubbing alcohol or clear nail polish on it. And it worked.. The taste was so bad. If you do it for about a month, everyday, you pretty much quit biting.
I recently started doing it
it's not a habit I just enjoy it :|
My brother does it too, as a way to stop biting his nails, he started biting the skin
haha
I pick, bite at the skin around my nails and thumbs sometimes the thumbs are worse... I'm really trying to stop but I just don't know what to do..
I do it all the time.
I usually do it without realising it.
It's an annoying habit!
I do. I wish I could stop though. =P
My nails are basically ruinned from the biting.D;
Maybe get your nails painted?
no it's not normal. break the habit. you can do it.
I'm doing it right now %26amp; always have. Do you spit or swallow?

What does it mean if when I let my nails grow out they're practically clear?
They have small little ridges on them, too, and are weak enough that I can bend them. What does it mean if when I let my nails grow out they're practically clear?

Why is it when I let my nails grow long it starts to grow skin(flesh) underneath the growing nail?
why is it when I let my nails grow long it starts to grow skin(flesh) underneath the growing nail, after a while? Its so weird. If I don't cut them the grow under will start to have feeling and itf I try to cut hem they will hurt. This I why I now decided to just cut my nails everytime they start to grow. Why is it when I let my nails grow long it starts to grow skin(flesh) underneath the growing nail?
it happens to me too. i used to wear acrylic and gel for years and i think thats why. i was just looking for a question with it!
when i looked it up someone else asked and they said it was a fungal infection but they're not like us (black) and i don't think thats what we have. I think we're both talking about the same thing. so if you go to the doctor first, could you email me and tell me what it is and if i go i'll do the same! Why is it when I let my nails grow long it starts to grow skin(flesh) underneath the growing nail?
It's just the way your nails grow. It's called the hyponicium (sp?). There's not much you can do about it but keep your nails short.

How can I keep my cat from digging her nails into my couch?
My parents recently bought 2 new leather couches, and I saw my cat put her nails into the couch, and I was wondering if there was something I could do/use to stop her from ruining the couches. How can I keep my cat from digging her nails into my couch?
yeah shut the door to the room with the couches in that way he can't get in there and ruin them... durrrrrrrrrHow can I keep my cat from digging her nails into my couch?
They sell cheap temporary glue-on rubber nubs for the claws.
These covers, a stern word, and a spritzer bottle full of water should train the cat quite quickly (must be done during the behavior.)
Only lazy morons need to de-claw their cats.
well you can try scratching posts, or those corrugated cardboard things you put catnip in(walmart sells them), but a front declaw would prevent any more tears in the couch, but will not stop them from trying to sharpen the nails they no longer have. I like the walmart thingies because the cats will go nuts over the catnip and generally love them. I had one cat that when he was on it you could push him all over the room and he wouldn't get off. even if you pushed him down the little 3 step drop to the next room, I think he thought he was a boarder. and the're inexpensive.

just clip the very tips of it's claws with a nail clipper so they're not sharp
Get a scratching post. We took an old ladder and put carpet covered square pieces of wood on 2 of the rungs and on the top. We don't have a problem with them now...they love sitting up on top of the ladder and looking out the window. When our cats were kittens, we used a water filled squirt gun and when they started scratching on something they shouldn't we spray them twice in the butt, NOT THE FACE. The learned from this technique quickly.
Trim her nails regulary, every 2-3 weeks. That will take off the sharp edge.
Get her a scratching post and/or provide her with cardboard or other appropriate areas/objects to scratch. It is important that they be provided an appropriate scratching area. Cat nails grow from the inside out, and so they need to shed the outer lining to make room for new growth. Scratching also sharpens and maintains the claws.
You can always try Soft Paws. They are nail caps that slide over each nail and are applied with glue. They last about 6-8 weeks and will naturally fall off on their own when the nail grows. They come in all sorts of funky colors, too, and you only need them for the front paws. They aren't difficult to put on, or maintain. Google ';soft paws'; for more information.
Some people also have had luck with natural cat deterents, such as orange and other citrus scents. They do not like the smell.
Please do not declaw. It's cruel, terribly painful, and unnecessary.
Get rid of it...cats are digusting creatures anyway.
They sell a product called ';Sticky Paws.'; It's basically double-sided tape that you put on the furniture. When the cats touch it, they freak out because the stickiness bothers their feet. I put a scratching post with catnip in it in the same room as the sofa, and they gave up on the furniture and went to the scratching post all on their own. I tried everything, and that's the only thing that worked for me. You can get it at any pet store. Good luck!

yeah shut the door to the room with the couches in that way he can't get in there and ruin them... durrrrrrrrrHow can I keep my cat from digging her nails into my couch?

What's the best colour to paint your toe nails when going on a 2 week beach vacation?
Neutral colour goes with everything. What's the best colour to paint your toe nails when going on a 2 week beach vacation?
bright colours will look good against a tan but be sure to take some with you to top up because i always find the sea and sand makes it wear of quicker! What's the best colour to paint your toe nails when going on a 2 week beach vacation?
affirmative. HOT PINK / NEON PINK
HOT PINK (:
White does make you look tanner; but red is classic, and goes well with every skin tone.
i think a soft pink would look really cute with any outfit and it makes your toes look adorable
Hot pink or a pinkish red

Something sheer, so if it chips, it won't look very noticeable and you won't have to worry about repainting them while you're trying to enjoy your vacation.
I think a sheer white, pink, or bronze would look great.

What can I use to calm a very skittish cat so that I can apply Softclaws to nails to save my furniture?
My daughter moved back home and brought with her two cats. We now have three cats in the same family. Since that time several pieces of furniture have been ruined from scratching. I heard of Softclaws but one cat is extremely skittish. I need something to calm him so that he won't hurt us when applying the soft claws. We are supposed to trim the nail first, fill the nail cup 1/3 with adhesive, then apply to cat nail. Help? What can I use to calm a very skittish cat so that I can apply Softclaws to nails to save my furniture?
You can invest in Feliway Diffuser, or you can wrap him up in a towel like a hotdog so he cannot run away and just his front claws show. What can I use to calm a very skittish cat so that I can apply Softclaws to nails to save my furniture?
It might be worth having a word with your vet and seeing if they can apply them for you.
bigdeal, what a moron!! I'm glad this lady has the sense to try soft claws and isn't about to mutilate her cat. How would you like it if someone chopped off your fingers? Declawing is barbaric and is illegal both here in the UK and most states, people who declaw are not fit to be in the same room as an animal, never mind own one.
Acepromozene is a prescription and should not be dispensed without a vet visit (unlike the guy above states) so your best bet is giving your cat benedryl. An average cat can have about a tsp of childrens benedryl. You can get a syringe and take the needle off of it to dispense. Good luck!
there is a medication that you can get from your vet called acepromazone. it wil make your cat seem drunk and more controlable. at the office where i work, you don't even have to bring your cat in for this. be careful putting on the soft claws and if you can't do it, your vet office will probably do it. good luck. hope this helps
pheromone dispenser.
i'm not sure what she uses, but my aunt has something that looks like a ';glade plug-in'; that keeps her cat super calm around her boyfriend's cat. i think you can get it at petsmart or petco.
and thank you for not considering de-clawing. it's super inhumane.
Try automotive antifreeze. Cats are VERY calm afterwards.
But, seriously, how about you just get them de-clawed? Otherwise, have your daughter handle it. And replace your furniture while she's at it!
The only thing I can of and it really does depend on age of cat...Is Cat-nip....place nip in a box or drawer....boy they have fun and mellow out .......turning into pussycats...good luck

Why do my fingers itch badly for about two days after getting any type of fake nails?
Im assuming I am allergic to something that is being used and I trying to figure it out so I can maybe use an alternative. I do not get any sores or rashes, they just start itching around 4-6 hours after they are done, the second day is worse and then the third day it starts feeling better. After that they quit itching until I get them filled again. Why do my fingers itch badly for about two days after getting any type of fake nails?
You are definitely allergic to something that is being used. You could spend your time experimenting with different formulas being used by the salon. Try to get an ingredient listing for each one that you try and cross-check them.
You may have to try a different salon.
You may have to try different products at home.
You may want to go to your doctor for a referral to an allergist. If you are allergic to an ingredient in one of the formulas being used on your nails, you could encounter that same ingredient elsewhere.
And unfortunately, you may have to give up having your nails done. Do your research first, though, then make an informed decision. Why do my fingers itch badly for about two days after getting any type of fake nails?
allergic is right.
ask them to see what is in the glue and filler and it they have a different kind. also see the home nail kits, some of them mght have different ingredients....there are donzens of ingredinets though so it would behard to tell which one is irritating you.

Why do my nails feel sensitive and very dry feeling like cracked ground without polish? It is hard to describe
Also they are brittle and chip easily. Until they get over the edge of the finger. but they still break sometimes. This is the best way to describe the feeling of my nails w/o polish.
Thanks for answering. Why do my nails feel sensitive and very dry feeling like cracked ground without polish? It is hard to describe
have u seen a dermatologist- your body is lacking nutrients- drink more water- also eat more fruits in vegetables- water is the key-
also did you know- putting your nails in warm water helps your nails grow- not to mention it helps your nails retain moisture- also if you put lotion on your hands- even around your nails it can help-
if that doesn't work i recommend you see a dermatologist- you could have a nail fungus-
also i recommend you paint your nails clear- and not some color- if your nails are particularly sensitive-

Is it bad for my nails to get fake nails put on professonally?
my friend said that getting fake nails done at a salon totally kills ur fingernails..is it really that bad?Is it bad for my nails to get fake nails put on professonally?
yes but they look gawjus :) xIs it bad for my nails to get fake nails put on professonally?
YES!! My friend's mum is a professional nail artist so she put on fake nails for her but when she took them off her real nails came off with them and also most of the glue stays on your nails and you can't get them off, they also make dents in your nails!!
YES unless u are willing to keep them on for a long time its not worth getting
when you take them off the layers of your nails will be ruined
%26amp; it takes a while to grow back :(
yes god its terrible! it would be OK if you got them done continually forever cause you would never have to feel your real nails under them but if you cant your nails turn paper thin and practically see through. what i did was i bought this nail hardener polish stuff let my nails grow out and get them manicured so they look professional.
Ask the opinion of the Nail salon. They should explain you the best fake nails nowadays. Do not accept Acrylic because it will definitely ruin your nails. There's always something new nail types. Natural manicure will only last for 3-4 days because the natural oil in your body washes away the paint. Unlike the air dry paint for fake nails. Good luck!

Is it bad to pick the skin around my nails?
Why is it bad, if it is at all? Will it affect my chanced of getting a job? Will it affect my relationships? And is it true that it can give you bad breath in old age?Is it bad to pick the skin around my nails?
Haha what?!
It is called your cuticle. It is not bad for you but it pay look bad unless you think it looks bad.Is it bad to pick the skin around my nails?
Picking or biting your cuticles is not only unbecoming, but it can be very unhealthful. A friend, who frequently bit her cuticles, contracted a painful staph infection in that area and had to take antibiotics as treatment. Regarding the career area, it might be considered unprofessional (and annoying) to see an employee nervously harming herself. Better to quit than to cause future problems.
If a person practices life-long habits of dental visits, flossing, brushing, etc., it is doubtful that bad breath will occur in old age. Of course, bad breath can happen at any age depending on a person's diet and health.
uumm...I think the job, relationship and bad breath things are all old wives tales. The only way it's bad is if you pick at it too much and cause them to bleed, causing a possible infection. That happened to me once...the side of my finger was sore and red and had a bubble of pus next to the nail....gross!!!
I don't think it's going to mess up your future or anything.
But it doesn't look very attractive, so I'd stop.

How can I get acrylic off my nails without going back to the expensive nail place?
I have NICE real nails and I don't want to yank the acrylic ones off..they ruined my nails to get more money from me and I just want my own nails back HELPHow can I get acrylic off my nails without going back to the expensive nail place?
Acetone....you can find it pure in the beauty supply places....soak in for about 20-30 minutes, you will have to rub a lil, but it will turn to goo...good luckHow can I get acrylic off my nails without going back to the expensive nail place?
Use pure acetone in a glass bowl and put hands in and soak off the acrylic. This process can take about an hour, and sometimes it can take more time if the Asian salon put them on. They use different acrylic. Soak for 10 minutes and then scrape off and repeat.
Another way is HOT water. Soak your hands for a few minutes then peel away!!! But I mean pretty hot water and you have to do this for every couple nails. After you are done apply a clear layer of nail polish for strength.
Good luck.
Sam
Yeah. I [insert correct number here]th the acetone. It will disolve it. Make sure you wash your hands well and put cocoa butter or vaseline on your hands when you're done.

What do you do if you cut your hamsters nails and you cut them too short and they bleed?
I cut my hamsters nails and I cut them too short and she started bleeding I dunno what to do?What do you do if you cut your hamsters nails and you cut them too short and they bleed?
Use flour to pack in the nail. go now.
Don't trim your hamsters nails and if you do in the future, make sure you have something called quick stop (Can be purchased at most pet stores) on hand to pack into the nail if you cut too deep. Quick stop is better than flour or corn starch in stopping bleeding and help in healing. What do you do if you cut your hamsters nails and you cut them too short and they bleed?
When my vet went over what to do if I cut the nail too short, she said to just apply pressure until it stops like you would if you'd cut yourself.
Mine has different coloured nails, some clear and some black (it's just her colouring) and I've learnt how far back I was able to cut.
Obi (my hamster) is sneaky though; I've never cut her but she dislikes having her nails clipped that she'll cry out as though I have because she knows I'll stop as soon as she cries in case I have.
Anyway, if you're really concerned you should consult your vet just incase, but I'm sure the bleeding will stop
Go and get vaseline or put a tinytiny towel around hin fingers!!!!!
Poor guys! Clean their claws then bandage them until they grow back.
Then don't do it again.
Cornflour, or mix regular flour and water together into a pasty dough and place it on the end. both form clots
just stop the bleeding this stuff happens sometimes
You're not supposed to cut your hamster's nails at all.
youre not supposed to do it yourself
go to a vet it can get infected
it will stop if like rabbits it will be sore but will be ok

Why are my nails suddenly breaking, what can I do to make them stronger?
I just got home from a trip to Oregon (I live in California). All my finger nails are chipped and peeling and I am not sure why. I kept them painted and moisturized but it does not seem to work. I always pride myself in my strong natural nails and take good care of them. Is there something I can take to get them stronger and to grow back faster in the winter? Any products or supplements you use that work really well? Why are my nails suddenly breaking, what can I do to make them stronger?
The air in Oregon is probably much more dry than in California which is why your nails would break now. I agree that nail tek works well..try getting a pair of cotton gloves and wearing a thick lotion to bed..with special attention to your nails..before you put lotion on, put some warm olive oil on your nails and cuticles..then the lotion, then the gloves and go to bed!
also..dont file your nails too often..if you keep your nails painted, i suggest using nail tek or OPI natural nail strengthener, its a pinkish clear top coat and it works great!
good luckWhy are my nails suddenly breaking, what can I do to make them stronger?
At nail places they sell this great clear nail polish called nail Teck. nail teck helps your nail become supper strong and if you have short nails nail teck can also help them grow faster and stronger.
there is this nail polish type stuff you pain on your nails and it makes them stronger.
i had the same problem until i put sliced garlic in my strengthener. They smell funny for a bit but it works. My nail looks amazing now.
you can get nail varnish which streghtens your nails
Sometimes if you have nail polish on the nail, it prevents moisture from penetrating the nail, so they get drier under the nail polish and you don't notice. Make sure when you apply lotion you also get some under the tip of the nail. I prefer using a moisturizing cuticle oil when I have nail polish on, even under the nail tip, as your cuticle even extends under the tip.
How often do you have to cut your babies nails?
It seems our babies nails grow like weeds! I cut them every 3 days sometimes 4..or he will cut his little face..anyone else with a baby and fast growing nails? Or is this just a normal thing? How often do you have to cut your babies nails?
my son is 4 months and i have to cut them about as much as you. sometimes every 2 days.
hes also teething and tuggin at his ears and scratchin them up too!
and he scratches me and daddy upHow often do you have to cut your babies nails?
I thought I'd maybe have to trim our daughter's nails once a week...HA...I do them every 2 days and have done that since birth. If I don't, her face will be all scratched up. She's almost 11 months and they still grow like weeds! Toenails are a different story-she can go weeks without needing those trimmed.
I have to clip Johnny's fingernails right around every 3 days.
Wanna know something weird???? I've never cut his toenails. I don't know what's up with his toenails, but they just don't seem to grow. Either that or he's wearing them off crawling, lol
same here. i do it a couple times a week. i have a hard time trimming them all in one sitting too. she wiggles way too much. once i accidently clipped a chunk of her skin out so now I do it slower and more carefully, which means i can only do a few fingers in one sitting.
yeah, don't worry honey. It's very common, my baby girl (11 months) has lovely long nails at the moment because my husband is in charge for a few weeks whilst i'm at work. When I am with her, i'm always picking at them!! :o)
yeah! i wish my nails grew that fast!! I do it about once a week, though I should do it more, but I hate doing it and she doesnt sit still, making it ver hard
Same as you, every few days. They do grow awfully fast, but I only have to clip her toenails about once a month.
I have to do it about once a week. I learned this the hard way after seeing him with a huge scratch on his forehead.
I cut them every week or so but YES, they grow long very quickly!!
I wish mine grew that fast =]
God bless
a couple times a week
i cut his nail every other day.. they do grow super fast..it's all that milk they drink.lol
idk..my boyfriends mom ends up doing it for me..and im glad for that because i dont like doing it.bebo

What is the electric tool called that manicurists use to file the nils when putting on acrylic nails?
I want to find out what it is called its that electric nail thing used to file the nails when they are putting the acrylic nailsWhat is the electric tool called that manicurists use to file the nils when putting on acrylic nails?
Nail drill, electric file, e-file, electric nail file, etc.
I don't think Sally's has a very huge section for nail tools. You can try asking them to order it for you, but it might be quicker and cheaper to get it online. Decent nail drills can cost from $100 - $600 though. Cheap ones stop working after a while, and they don't have that much power.
Also, read the instructions manual and be very careful because if you don't use them properly, you can damage your nails permanently. What is the electric tool called that manicurists use to file the nils when putting on acrylic nails?
Its a Finger Tip Tool, you can buy a cheap one or about $30 on the internet.

How to take care of my hair, body, face, nails, and teeth?
I want to look better because i'm in highschool now and I want to know what it takes to do my hair to make it longer, my body to make it have 4 packs and have muscles, my nails to designe them and make them look long, my face to get rid of my acne, so I could have a clear face, and my teeth, so my teeth could be white and clean. Thankyou and I would like to have alot of answers. How to take care of my hair, body, face, nails, and teeth?
For your hair - If you straighten it, stop for a while because it singes the ends off and will never grow.
For your body - If you want 4 packs I recommend you crunches, side crunches and planks. (Search how to do them on google). For muscles do aerobic exercises with small dumbells.
For your nails - If they're not already long you need to glue fakes on, however if they are long to get the absolute best outcome you should pay for a manicure.
For your face - There is no really good working way of getting rid of acne however you can make it look better by using clean and cear face wash twice a day. Also use face masks once a week to clear the skin.
For your teeth - You can brush them with baking soda which works very well. If this is not sucessfull, get them whitened for free at the dentist. Also brush them after every meal and floss.
Hope this helps. I've tried it all and it works :). Good luck and have a good time starting High School. How to take care of my hair, body, face, nails, and teeth?
Well to have longer hair you need to have your split ends cut off quite often to keep the ends keep growing. For your stomach muscles all you can do is exercise therefore the best exercise for stomach muscles is push ups. To get rid of the acne on your face you could buy like a exfoliting wash and do this daily and if you go to your doctor they can give you some cream which is extremely helpful. To keep your teeth white you should make sure you brush at least twice a day use mouthwash and floss. You could also try some whitening toothpaste. Hope this helps.

Okay, prepare for a long answer!
Hair: If you want to keep your hair fresh, wash it everyday. Wash it good, and rub your scalp because it will get rid of dandruff and it'll make your hair smell nice longer. Also if you wanted to get it longer, trim it every 6 weeks just a bit. When you trim it, it grows longer, faster just like when your shave.
Body: If you want to be more muscular, exercise! After school, or whenever you have time, jog, or lift weights. Also you can play sports. Play your best in Gym class so you can get extra exercising time.If you want to add even more exercising time, walk to school(if you can). It'll give you more exercise, and it's good for the environment! But don't forget hygiene! When we exercise we get really sweaty and everything and if you don't wash your face after you exercise, your skin can get greasy which leads to acne. Also, use a good deoderant so that you won't smell and you won't have sweat marks. I recommend Secret Scent Expressions, Vanilla Chai. I have that one, and it works AMAZINGLY. I got mine at Loblaws for about 3$. Try it!
Face: Always wash your face! Don't leave grease on your forehead. Use a facial cleanser like Clean%26amp;Clear, and make your face look fresh! Avoid getting acne by washing your face with a cleanser after every meal. Reduce the amount of soda that you drink, and drink plenty of water. The water that you drink cleans out pores, so drink plenty of water! You've heard of the rule to drink 8 glasses of water per day, right? Well, every can of soda that you drink, you have to add 1 more cup of water. Which is pertty hard, so just don't drink soda that often!
Nails: They are easy to maintain. You don't have to have them perfect, just as long as they are properly cut, not too long, and clean. You don't have to go to an expensive place just to get your nails done. You can do it yourself. Just decorate them! Buy sparkly nail polish for about $1. I have that and it really makes my nails look creative.
Teeth: Your teeth don't have to be perfect. Mine are definetly not perfect. I have a space between by two front teeth(doesn't look THAT bad) and some discoloration. All you have to do to show good hygiene if to brush your teeth after every meal, so that you don't have food stuck in your teeth, and they aren't yellow. If you can't brush your teeth at school, just bring a compact mirror and check after you eat lunch. It's a simple way for you and your teeth to keep shining!
There you go, a long answer! Good luck in high school. And remember, good hygiene is the most important thing!

I just stopped bitting my nails for good and wanty them to be healthy. The nail was so damaged the top is seperated from the nail bed. It looks terrible. Does anyone have any homemade/natural remedies for damaged nails?
Lately my finger nails have become really dry and nasty looking and they keep splitting at the top. Does anyone have any homemade/natural remedies? thank you.Does anyone have any homemade/natural remedies for damaged nails?
You may need more moisture or less stress. Try rubbing a little warm olive oil into your cuticles every night and cover your hands with lotion whenever you can -- especially at night. I find it helpful to use a heavier cream at night. If you use nail polish and remover, try to go without for a few weeks, and use a nail buffer and buffing creme, like Barielle. Nutrition can also play a role - make sure you're getting enough protein and calcium, and stay away from any extremely low-fat diets - a little healthy fat (like olive, peanut, or canola oil) helps to keep your skin and nails healthy. If you have been under a lot of stress, try exercise or relaxation tapes to help you handle it without causing your body to suffer as much.Does anyone have any homemade/natural remedies for damaged nails?
I've been using cuticle oil- SEACRET- every night when I go to bed. I put it on each fingernail, then on the dry spots on my hands, and rub it in like hand lotion- It's a little oily, but it is helping. I got mine on ebay, but I think you can get it in malls too- I just hate going into malls to get anything!

How can I vent a room while doing artificial nails without harming my kids with the acrylic fumes?
Its too cold outside to open a window. Im a stay at home mom and I love doing my own nails and been putting it off for the longest time for fear of my kids inhaling the fumes of the acrylic. Can it harm them first of all? I myself dont like the smell of it but I can handle it better than they can. I cant go to a salon and get them done because I dont have anyone to babysit and its cheaper and more enjoyable to do them myself anyway. I have central h%26amp;a, not like that matters, and ceiling fans. Will it hurt them? They are 22 mo and 7 mo old. Thanks. How can I vent a room while doing artificial nails without harming my kids with the acrylic fumes?
You MUST master the art of having them nap at the same time! It took me a while, and I now pass that wisdom along to you...grasshopper.How can I vent a room while doing artificial nails without harming my kids with the acrylic fumes?
Go to a Hydroponic gardening store, they sell this vent/blower like a giant vaccume, it's attached to a hose like the one from your dryer to the outside vent and you can just make like a cat door and attach the hose so it blows outside. (this hose can be as long as you need it) you might be able to get one at a OSH or maybe a hardware store. I'm not sure. but it's more efficent than just using an osscilating fan. Yes the noxious fumes can be harmfull if subjected frequently... in a closed room, is it possible to have them in a seperate room when you're doing them? like have them watch a movie ? If you only do a fill or two every ten days to two weeks, I wouldn't trip too hard. What about those women who bring their kids in to the chop-shops and have them there sitting on their laps. They should worry.
Good luck. - A

How do you make your nails grow faster?
How can I make my nails grow faster? How do you make your nails grow faster?
girls should really take good care of their hands, and nails are part of your hands and u should really take good care of them...
the best way to keep ur hands soft is put a cream before going to bed ... and for ur nails (after puttin' the cream ) apply some olive oil on ur nails ( do that every night before u sleep). i really believe using natural things is better than using the chemical things....
Good Luck!!!How do you make your nails grow faster?
Milk. Drink it. Lot's of it, and cover your nails with a coat of clear nail polish. Eat healthy!
uhhhh yeah do what they said :)
try washing the dishes magically that worked some how
buy some nail strengthening solution @ walmart
Use maybelline express massage. It really works. I started using it for stronger nails but now I'm tired of cutting my nails so often.
i push back my cuticles and cut off that cuticle.
I take a multivitamin everyday.
they are longer %26amp; stronger than ever.
My nails have grown really long in just 2weeks.
Apply some Nail bite no more on your fingernails..Its like a gloss that will keep them strong..and stop you from biting them if you do..It worked for me..It used to hardly have fingernails at all.
Water will damage them. You can not get vitamins into them. nails are DEAD like your hair. Take care of the nail bed it is where the nails come from. Tapping your nails may stimulate the nail bed to make them grow more and maybe thicker. Your body should react to the stimulus and start making the nails harder, longer to compensate
Paint your fingernails... I know it sounds weird but it really works. If you don't like colorful nailpolish clear works just as well.
This might sound strange, but DO THE DISHES! I am so serious, whether its doing the dishes, or washing your hands, or swimming a lot, the water has a huge effect on your nails! I am so serious, this has had SUCH an effect on me! Good Luck!
Hi, the best thing to do is use a hand and nail cream, and if you use nail varnish use moisturising nail varnish remover. Also my be increasing you calcium, will help you nails to grow. I have no trouble with my nails growing they start growing back as soon as i cut them and within 2 weeks they are back to being long again. If you dont like milk or cheese, try taking calcim suppliments. Also move your hands more, you will find that the hand you use more the nails will grow quicker on your hand. So if you use both hands they may grow quicker.
I use a product called LA Girl Calcium nail grower, I bought it at sally beauty supply. It works great and I had the worse nails ever. Also there is nailtiques brand but thats quite expensive but it works. Take some hair/skin/nail vitamins and those help too.
Lots of vitamin C.

Gel nails are supposed to be applied directly to the nail right?
Gel nails are supposed to be applied to the nail directly right? Why do some salons put a fake nail on first, then the gel?Gel nails are supposed to be applied directly to the nail right?
Essentially, there are two methods of applying either acrylic, or gel nails. One is to use tips. The other is to sculpt the nails by use of nail forms which are removed once the product has been cured in the case of gels (or hardened - with acrylics). This of course means that the gel (or acrylic) is applied to your natural nails.
Oh, of course there is a natural nail overlay as well. This is when no extension is applied with either tips, or forms. The product is applied directly to the natural nail in this case.
At times, the use of nail tips is inevitable, and they must be used for best results. But that is rarely the case. In my own opinion - and this is only my opinion, the reason most techs use tips is because its much easier and requires little or no skill to do nails using tips. To sculpt a great looking set of nails takes a lot of skill, experience, and practice. Sculpting - when done right, always results in much better looking nails. Tips are typically used by inexperienced - or lazy, nail techs unless the need for them arises. Like I said, it happens. But it is rare that one absolutely needs to use tips.Gel nails are supposed to be applied directly to the nail right?
the fake nail is supposed to go on first the the gel afterwards to make it shiny
Yes its supposed to be applied directly on the nail.
and well idk.

What is the longest you have ever had your nails?
Was it hard to function with long fingernails? What is the longest you have ever had your nails?
My wife has her nails 1/2 inch past the tip and has absolutely no problems with them. She can type faster and do more things with them than without. 99.0% of women who make negative comments about long nails have really never had them or didn't take the time to get used to them. What is the longest you have ever had your nails?
naturally I have had them a 1/4 inch from the skin line (i don't know the real name for that part of my finger;when they start to appear white)
i start to think they are too long when i start hurting myself with them ( on accident) , i have even drawn blood from myself before.
my other functions is good (even enhanced), but there are side effects :)
I've had mine pretty long before. Maybe... 3/4 of an inch? I have small hands so that may not sound like much. But it does get hard to function. I finally cut them when I get sick of them sliding all over the keys on the keyboard.
I always have to keep mine short. I have to because I play piano. For piano, I have to keep my nails short, or I will have to pay 1 dollar. I wish I could at least have it to 1 centimeter.
Like half a centimeter above my finger and no it wasn't hard I know a woman who TYPES for a living and has like 3 inch long finger nails!!!
like 4 mm long haha
they tear off really easily :(
not very
yes thats y i cut em

What should you do after your house is sold for the new owners? Just clean? Remove nails, patch and paint?
I will have it spotless and clean, but don't know if I have time (with 3 kids and this is an out of state move, we are returning for only 2 days with movers to pack up house) to remove all nails from walls, patch, and paint. And it's flat paint so you'd see spots on the walls where I painted-so which is worse, nail holes in walls or patches? Is there anything else we should do for the new owners? What should you do after your house is sold for the new owners? Just clean? Remove nails, patch and paint?
a normal contract says broom cleanWhat should you do after your house is sold for the new owners? Just clean? Remove nails, patch and paint?
Your responsibility as the seller is to have it in as good of condition as it was for your buyers final walk through. Make sure your home is reasonably clean and all of your possessions are out of the house. Patching nail holes and repainting walls is something for the buyer. If you want to do something good for the buyer, write a letter telling them useful things about the neighborhood. Things like when trash day is, where to take yard waste, local parks and entertainment venues. You could even give a brief introduction of the neighbors. As a home buyer I would find this more useful than filled nail holes and it would take much less time for you.
Leave it clean/spotless and with the nails pulled. The nicest thing would be to have the kitchen and bathrooms ready for the new owners. Nail holes are not that big a deal and the new owners will probably paint anyway.
I would rather have the kitchen ready to be used vs. worring about a few nail holes, if it was me.
leave them any info you may have as to how long it has been since any major appliances has been replaced or repaired furnace and so on also if you have a repair man who you have used and is familiar with things then leave him number for the new owners
Most new home owners like carpet cleaning also

Do they make fingernail implants for guys with missing nails that wont grow back?
Also how much are they?Do they make fingernail implants for guys with missing nails that wont grow back?
Not an implant per se but go to a reputable nail salon and they can fit you with realistic looking fake ones.
Couldn't tell you the price it depends on the salon. Don't go to one of the chinese places though. No offence to them but they have a bad rep.

Will using your nails to text damage the screen of an LG Vu?
I have long nails and it's just easier to type with them. Will this damage the screen cause it's a touch screen? Will using your nails to text damage the screen of an LG Vu?
The Vu's touch screen is plastic, not glass, so it is easier to damage than the iPhone and other phones with glass touch screens. I don't think texting with your nails would damage the screen too bad, maybe a scracth here and there. But to prevent that, I would suggest getting a screen protector and putting it on your VU. They have them for very cheap on Amazon.com. They are easy to put on and save your phone from lots of scratches it would incur while in your purse, pocket, etc. Email me if you need anymore help! :)Will using your nails to text damage the screen of an LG Vu?
It would probably scratch the screen. But make sure you put a protective screen to prevent scratching, and if it does you can always put another one on it!

What are some good ways to stop biting my nails?
I've had this habit forever, and I REALLY want to stop. Help! What are some good ways to stop biting my nails?
Gosh, I haven't thought about it in a long time!
About 20 years ago I was a ';nail biter';. It was terrible, nails %26amp; cuticles! I thought I was going to chew my fingers down to the knuckles!:) I tried a technique similar to the one described below. I did this a couple of times, and I have never bit my finger nails since. I don't fully know why it worked for me, but it did.
http://www.newhabit.net/images/NAILBITIN鈥?/a>What are some good ways to stop biting my nails?
I have the same problem. What I do is paint my nails using a sheer pink color. So if your nails are short, you and other people won't notice. You know, if you put a bright yellow nail polish on with short nails, it wouldn't look good. So a color similar to your nails will be good. :D That's what I do and now my nails are MUCH longer and look prettier. (:
Try getting a nice manicure that you don't want to mess up .. such as a french manicure ..
then they make this stuff that's like a clear coat nail polish to put on .. but it tastes really bad .. put that on over your newly polished nails .. that way it will give you a quick reminder if you instinctively put a nail to your mouth
you can probably find the nail polish at walgreens
Same here. Nail-Biter since second grade. I painted my nails last night and now I get the worst taste when I put my hand up to bite them. Try it, it's working for me :)
take a microbiology class. worked for me.stop blackheads

How do you repair fingernails after you remove acrylic nails?
one acrylic nail popped off when the wind caught a screen door i was grabbing, and so i removed the rest, but now my nails are wrecked, layers and layers ripped off, and they are even sore. how can I fix them? I'm afraid of a nail hardener or strengthener, as my nails are to thin and it might hurt, (burn) etc. please help!!How do you repair fingernails after you remove acrylic nails?
Just have to wait till they grow out. Be sure to keep them coated with clear polish - it helps protect. And don't try to grow them long, they'll just break. Short for now, longer later.
Mine took about 4 months to fully grow out.How do you repair fingernails after you remove acrylic nails?
clear undercoat then nail polish. it will act like a protective barrier until your nails get stronger. remember to reapply when your nails grow
Well if you want to get rid of the ridges and bumps on ur nails you can buy this 7 step filer from any drug store (cvs) its like $2 and follow the steps...that will really smooth out ur nail..and after you do that polish it with a clear coat. Its going to take a while for the nails to become strong, so hang in there.

How do you make your nails grow faster?
I pulled my acrylic nail off of my pinky and it ripped off my real nail and it started to bleed and it really hurts, like half of it is still on so what can I put on it to make the rest of it grow faster? How do you make your nails grow faster?
Jell-O strengthens bones overtime, due to the calcium. So, since our nails are a portion of our skeletal system, Jell-O will definitely help to grow your nail back naturally and ';healthily';. (:

you can try nail polish...or acrlyic nails. also maybe try to substitute it with something else like gum chewing.... my friend is keeps biting her nails and she is a smoker so if your a smoker try to quit cause smoking gives you nervous habits. i once was a nail bitier and i bit my names but not bad and how i did it was i told my self not to bite for whole week after the week it got easier to stop now i have beautifual nails and i may bite them to try to keep them down
i hope that helps plus u can go to webmd.com they probably have something there tooNails?????????????????????????
There is some nail polish that isnt suposed to tast to great. try that or put sock or your hands or make sure you always have hand sanitizer on your hands 'cause that doent taste the greatest.
I have the same problem. My wife hates it.
I try to keep my nails filed smooth so that I'm lees inclined to seek funky flaky bits to nibble at.
Get ur nails done and get them done like very very pretty that u will just love ur nails and u would not want to bite them because they are so pretty and u dont want to ruin them!

What is the best way to stop biting your nails?
i have bitten my nails for like my whole life and i want to stop but i need help, and please no dumb answers like wearing gloves or something, please give me a practical answer! What is the best way to stop biting your nails?
I have bitten my nails for my whole life---about 23 years now... I bit them really bad...until they bled, down to the white moon-looking thing. I've tried everything--including those nail polishes(they dint work). I found this product on-line called ';Control-It';...it is the ONLY thing that I am completely disgusted by.
http://www.stopbitingnails.com/
It tastes HORRIBLE!!! It was about $20 for about a months supply----but it lasts WELL over a month(I've been using it for about 5 months now). It comes in this little 1/4 oz. container...it looks small...but it goes a LONG way. It is like a balm-typed cream--that you just dab on your nails. It is the only thing that has helped!
My nails look amazing! After your nails start to heal, you'll notice that the skin below your cuticle is starting to get little peels--its natural..it's the skin repairing it self! It works so well. I also got one of those 7-way nail buffers which helped with making the nails look decent, because as your nails grow they are going to be jagged looking-trust me--this stuff works! What is the best way to stop biting your nails?
ok like 1 week ago I was a big nail biter and nothing wouldnt stop me .
ok and I set myself a goal to buy a bog if I dont bite them if you dont see a progress the first week than you cheated .
Put nail-polish in the mean time. I used this spanish clear polish that makes you nails grow quickly
Goodluck
Just stop cold turkey. That's what I did. Well, not completely. Since I don't like using a file, I still bite them as a means to control their length. However, I don't bite them to the point where they bleed like I used to. Hey, it wasn't that hard to do...
Put nail polish on your nails and every time you bite your nails, it will taste gross and eventually you'll stop.
eathier buy nailpolish like this (its for nail biters!)

or u could dip ur fingers in some nail polish remover so that if u put ur fingers in ur mouth...... it would taste bad and then u wouldnt bite ur nails
Use spray hot sauce on your finger tips and dry them off though so it doesn't get everywhere. Your fingers will taste like hot sauce when you try to bite them. Thats what my dad did fo my little brother.
They are this stuff you put on your nails and when you go to bite them it tastes really bad.
get a manicure with designs (should probly be expensive) so then you wont want to ruin the nail polish bc it will look bad
Get no-bite its like nail polish but tastes horrible
put your hands in your pockets
go to your dentist and get him/her to take out all your teeth lolstop blackheads

Any tips I need to know about laying a rolling roof? Do we need to put nails on the bottom of the shingles?
We have a 45 degree roof. We will be reroofing with new tar paper and rolling roof shingles. We are new homeowners, any info will be helpful.Any tips I need to know about laying a rolling roof? Do we need to put nails on the bottom of the shingles?
you start at the bottom of the roof and work up to the top. this way the water runs down the roof and doesnt enter any of the overlaps. do not nail the botom only the tops and make sure the nails are covered by the next rollAny tips I need to know about laying a rolling roof? Do we need to put nails on the bottom of the shingles?
Start at the top and only use roofing nails on the top of the rolls. Space your nails about 6 inches apart.
Most roofing rolls have lines showing where the nails should be.
I have been in the construction business for over 30 years. I have never heard of a rolling roof!! What I suspect you are talking about is a 3 tab or architectural shingle. in which case only accepts nails at the top of the shingle. The amount of nails depends on the building code. Some areas require more nails than others. never have I ever seen shingles nailed at the bottom when properly done.

How can I cut my 4 year old cats nails without him screamming?
When I cut my cat's nails, I sit on the floor with my legs crossed. I cradle him with one arm while I cut his nails with the other hand. I also talk to him to comfort him while I cut his nails. How can I cut my 4 year old cats nails without him screamming?
I went to the vet and he gave me a mild seditive to give to him before they cut his nails.
How can I cut my 4 year old cats nails without him screamming?
I hope you are not cutting him too deep. This is very painful for the cat, no wonder he is screaming! Just cut the tips. Or take him to the vet for 5 bucks and let them do it.
Just cut the very tips
He really shouldn't be screaming - maybe angry cause you're restricting his movment, but not screaming. Maybe you're cutting too far down. Look closely when you push on the pad of his foot to make the nails come out. You can see a darker white inside of the nail, DON'T cut this. Where you see it thin out and disappear is the furthest down you should clip. Get the nail clippers made for pets from a pet store - they make a nice clean cut. I've used regular ';human'; nail clippers, but they tend to shred the nail a bit, which can be uncomfortable later for a kitty. Oh, and ditto on sitting him between your legs. Give him treats, pet him, clip one paw, give another treat, pet, clip another paw, and so on. Don't turn him upside down. If he REALLY hates being held, then wrap him in a towel. Good luck!

I got fake nails today and my thumb and middle fingers hurt like crazy when i apply pressure?
The other fingers are fine, but like i text message non stop and use my thumbs and texting hurts.
should i remove them or give it a night and then give them the boot?
thanks!I got fake nails today and my thumb and middle fingers hurt like crazy when i apply pressure?
OUCH!! I forgot about that feeling!! Its normal for them to hurt the day and maybe even the day after getting them put on!!!
But it does go away, and your nails will feel fine. But that is one of the reasons i wont get fake nails...and cause my real nails look like crap after the fake ones are taken off!!
If texting hurts ya, cool it for awhile and give your nails a break!
Good luck!I got fake nails today and my thumb and middle fingers hurt like crazy when i apply pressure?
Give it a night, it usually hurts for a little while but eventually stops, my suggestion wouldbe to limit the texting because that will just irritate them more. :-]
The nail beds are most likely bruised from all the pressure, filing, and buffing they did to them today.
Lay off the test messaging. What is with everyone and this constant text messaging anyway?
my nails are always sore \after the first few days i have them on
i wouldnt take them off if i were u

Does anyone know where I can find a web page for BRiT/TEX cream for the finger nails to order online?
BRiT/TEX is a gentle nail and cuticle treatment cream. Sheila Brit owns the company. BRiT/TEX is based in Stratford, CT. My mother uses this product on a regular bases. She is running short of this product and it is hard for her to find. Thank you.
All rude answers will be reported.Does anyone know where I can find a web page for BRiT/TEX cream for the finger nails to order online?
As far as I know there is no place to order it online. Go to the website below and scroll down to SHEILA BRIT, LTD. The company phone number is listed beside it. Hopefully they can tell you what you can do from there. The last time I know of anyone ordering from them was by calling. I hope this helps!

What kind of nails would be best for ONE time only?
I just need to get my nails done for an event coming up... I know gel nails are REALLY hard on your natural nail, I don't know much about acryllic or silk.
What is the safest type of nail to get if i'm only going to be doing it once? I want minimal damage to my natural nails..What kind of nails would be best for ONE time only?
i would get nail tips cuz there easier to come off and there not expensive at all What kind of nails would be best for ONE time only?
Hey, are you going into a salon to get it done or are you trying to do it yourself? If you are going into a salon ask if they can put a temp set on. It will be both less expensive and less damaging to your nails. A temp set is where they put the ';tips'; on your nail as if they were gonna put acrylic nails on and then they just buff out the seam where your nail meets the tip and then apply a thin layer of the gel that goes with the fiber glass or silk nail systems. Then the last step is to paint it. This nails are meant to last only a day or two at the most, after that time they will ';break off'; which will not affect the nail underneath the tip.
I would not say that gels are hard on your natural nail. I have them at the moment and they are very practical. From information over the internet, I have found that most people prefer Gel nails because: they 'do not' affect your natural nail (if taken off with care), they strengthen your nails with the ingredients in the gel, they are odorless and are protected from UV rays.
Acrylic nails are much worse for your nails because they carry bacteria under the nail and this causes nail diseases - sometimes severe. They are also painful when taking them off if done unprofessionally. I know this because my friend found it painful when removing them.
Before I got my Gel nails done a couple of days ago I did alot of research before I got it done. And I found that Gels were the best but they can be quite expensive. Mine cost 拢30.
I suggest Gels then for you because since you already bite your nails the Gels will strengthen them for when they are removed.
Mmh. Well when I want to have my nails done for just one night I go to walmart or Walgreen's and get those nails you can put on yourself. They last about a day ot two. They have them in different types so you can get a french tip or whatever design you like

Have any of you never trimmed your guinea pigs nails, and the guinea pig was fine?
Thanks! Any more tips on why I should do it is fine too.Have any of you never trimmed your guinea pigs nails, and the guinea pig was fine?
Yes, the piggie was fine.
Just be careful about clipping too short and cutting into the quick. Make sure you have some corn starch on hand, just in case you do cause bleeding. You just put some powder on the nail, and apply a little pressure until the bleeding stops.
If you're nervous, any vet should be able to do this for you.Have any of you never trimmed your guinea pigs nails, and the guinea pig was fine?
My gran didn't cut her guinea pigs nails for a year once, and they curved into the poor guinea pigs foot and had to be removed by a vet.. it was very infected.
Guinea pigs HAVE to have them cut every month, all you do is get some nail clippers and cut the tip off, make sure the vein isn't cut though.
Of course. The guinea pig will squirm, but it doesn't hurt them unless you clip to far into the nail. If you don't feel comfortable clipping them yourself, a vet will do it for a flat price per guinea pig.
a guinea pigs nails must be trimmed at least once a month give or take. If they are not trimmed they will grow out of control and make it hard for them to walk, and can also grow into their feet causing infection.
I have a dog and I know their nails are very sensitive and I usually take him to a professional!!
yea lol but we gave our guinea pigs away the other day ):

Do you know any websites that?show acrylic nail ideas%26gt;im looking for prom and i NEED ideas lolNails ............?
i would keep it simple. if you do go with acrylic nails - keep them on the shorter side and either do a solid color or the basic french manicure. if you do too many designs it can make your ';look'; be less classy and more trendy. not how you want to be seen when you look back at your prom photos in 20 years.
plus, look at the nails of stars on red carpets today - they keep it very simple.Nails ............?

Nails..???
I have really bad nails. They are brittle, they crack and rip into layers, they don't grow evenly and they are not tough at all. How do I fix this?!? I kind-off just want to get fake nails because they have nice patterns on them and they hide my gross nails. Any advice? Oh and by the way I want my nails to be long.(real nails)
Thank you!!!!!Nails..???
you should try the hardening and vitamin enriched clear nail polish. it hardens you nails and gives them vitamins and minerals to get long and strong. The fake nails are only going to make you real nails even worse. They also might come off easily if you real nails arent stable enough.
=]Nails..???
you should buy sally hansen's products that are just perfect for your '; kind of '; nails it helps your nails grow stronger and faster (: so you wont have to go through all the troubles with acrylics.
just get acrylics
Go to a beauty saloon and do a manicure... It will make your nails look beautiful and it will also give it a shape. They will give you some advices of how to keep your nails... Be careful with your nails also...
Nooooo! absolutely NO fake nails! they cause problems for even the best nails.
Try using a nail hardener, it's just like a nail polish that hardens your nails!
Buying fake nails would be a good idea to hide your nails, but when the time comes 2 take them off, it might make them even weaker.
Good luck ;-)
Nail harderner may help you. Forget about Salley Hansen.. it doesn't work well for very weak nail. You may try ';Nailtek';.. I think can only get from nail salon. Ask the manicurist, they should able to advise which one is best for you. It can make your nail stronger and grow longer. Fake nail. acrylic nail will make your problem worst.
As a licensed professional in the nail industry .this is my advice to you........I'd recommend you go to a professional Salon for manicures .....with the kind of nails you describe it will be next to impossible to have the long natural nails you seek as the cracking and splitting will not let this be achieved ......the nail tech will be-able to help you take care of your nails and give you an informed decision should you decide to choose enhancements. An FYI enhancements don't ruin nails.......its a crappy technician that can ruin natural nails!
i've heard of a sally hansen product called hard-as-nails... that might be of help.
blah ! grow em' out and keep fileing them with a nail file ?
so a whole new nail could grow out and ur nail should be
alot stronger and put lotion on the side of ur nails and on the
cuticle so the skin around ur nail doesnt break n peel !

What's the difference between gel and acrylic fake nails? Is one better for you than the other?
Gel is not better ';for you'; but it is better. It is usually $5 more than regular acrylic. They are less likely to crack, lift, or break off.

I want to paint my nails black again but last time i did , my nails were stained. Should i use a base coat or something??Nails!!!!!?
I have seen some gal friends of mine use a clear coat first, then the black. Its a little heavy but it keeps the black from staining the nail.Nails!!!!!?
Polish will stain your nails, especially black or red. Be sure to use a good base coat before applying any colored polish.
that happens to me all the time. I usually just use a base coat too. It still stains your nails but it definitely helps!
yes using a base coat would fix your problem
I believe it will stain your nails regardless. I think the trick is to not leave it on for long periods.
yes. use an o.p.i. base coat

and i was thinkin like some kinda design on it like different color flowers or stars on each finger or a tip but idk what to do to spice it up cause just that color is too blah so what should i add to it ?Im getting my nails done tomorrowNails?????
Why that color? There are so many prettier colors out there! But I would probably do some flowers on the ring fingers only.Nails?????
Are you keeping this colour on or having acrylic nails put on? If i was you i would get acrylic nails and have a little flower on one of your fingers on each hand. Or if you dont want acrylic why not see if they do spray on white tips they do at mine they just spray the tips on to your own nail for around 拢5 then you could get the flower patten put on same as above. if they dont do spary on tell them to french manicure it on. If your keeping that colour which you already have on i like it as it is :)

question...where does Lauren from the Hills get her nails done??? they are so nicely done!Nails!!!!!!?
I do them%26gt;!%26gt;!%26gt;

u can alwayz fly down to my place n get them done from me!!! :))Nails!!!!!!?
if u can find a good nail tech, that person can make nails just like that or even better. But it's very hard to find a real good one. Just go around nails shop, as soon as u walk in, tell them u're real picky and need a good nail technician, usually they r scared of u and will tell the best ones to take care of u. I'm myself a very good nail technician and I'm not scared of picky customers, that's why I tell u this ';trick';.

Nails........?
How can I possibly break my nail biting habits. besides put nail polish or getting fake nails. and if you're going to say sumthing like... stick them in poop or put sumthin smelly on them, or chop you're fingers off, you might as well forget about answering! but anywayz, I am getting my nails done the day before school, but how can I stop biting my nails until then, and after I get my nails taken off. and how should you normally have your fake nails on?Nails........?
i get acrylic nails done every two weeks and wear them for a year.
you could try distracting yourself and keeping your hands busy ( like take up scrapbooking or something. you could try putting vinegar on your nails to make them taste bad.
its a matter of willpower. if you want to stop biting them, then just tell yourself to stop biting them.
you could also try wearing scented lotion on your hands, it smells good but doesnt taste pretty- and lotion is good for your nails.
just my personal opinion. hope this helps.Nails........?
getting acricillics is a good idea i luv my acrillics and when u pay fromt hem it makes u stop bitting them i know its werid my acricials make me right neater
good luck
You could place a rubber band around your wrist. everytime your're about to bite your nails, pull back the rubber band and release.
You'll soon get rid of the habit because of pain.
Vinager tastes good! Sry, its not random, its part of the best answer
just think about how stupid you look biting them and how you need to grow up and stop the ridiculous habit.
You can buy a clear nail polish at ';Sally's'; that taste bitter. Worked for my little one.
With your talk about putting poop or something smelly on them, do I take it that you've tried the nasty tasting/smelling products you can paint on your nails to stop you biting?
You can get a few different things to paint on, made to taste bad so you stop biting. Just make sure you don't rub it in your eyes.
Get your friends to tell you to stop biting if they see you doing it, it's a habit you don't even realise you've got. You've got to get people to remind you you're doing it, and to stop.
Wrap your nails in strapping tape perhaps? So you can't get to them.
if you get fake nails, don't be tempted to bite them off or rip them off yourself cause that'll really hurt your own nails.
Fake nails, if they have to file your own nail to make sure they stick on, ie acrylic or gels, are bad for your nails, usually leaves them weak and thin.
instead of biting your nails chew gum it helps for me.. OH fake nails get them done professionally getting the kiddie ones from the store is bad for ya ..it messes up your cuticles
wel honestly I use to be like that, but I used to bite my nails out of boredom..And one day i figure it out that I shouldn't it be doing it because I am becoming a young adult and it's embarassing if people ever looked at your hands and notice your unhealthy nails. It all depends on your determination.. And now that I left my nails grow, wow, I lovee themm too much to not bite them, everyone always tells me how pretty my nails are and if they're fake..but sorry there's nothing u can do, all you can do is have determination and willpower. You have to stop yourself...
I say you should have your fake nails on for 2 weeks, but if they become ruin or messed up you just have to take them off..and honestly I know EVERRONE gets fake nails, but don't try to take care of your own..you can work your hand easier with your real nails, and you eventually learn to stop biting them..and putting fake nails on ruins your real nails too much..
--hoped i helped!
i get acrylic nails done every two weeks and wear them for a year.
you could try distracting yourself and keeping your hands busy ( like take up scrapbooking or something. you could try putting vinegar on your nails to make them taste bad.
its a matter of willpower. if you want to stop biting them, then just tell yourself to stop biting them.
you could also try wearing scented lotion on your hands, it smells good but doesnt taste pretty- and lotion is good for your nails.
just my personal opinion. hope this helps.Nails........?
getting acricillics is a good idea i luv my acrillics and when u pay fromt hem it makes u stop bitting them i know its werid my acricials make me right neater

Is it normal for a cat to bite its nails?
my cat always bites its nails, and some of them are jagged and uneven, is this normal? Is it normal for a cat to bite its nails?
Sure, it's normal...you need to check to see if they need trimmed. He may be trimming them, or maybe something is missing in his diet. Another sign is if he eats grass when he goes outside...
Some kitties just don't care for scratching posts, but you could try that, too...Is it normal for a cat to bite its nails?
yes it's another way to help the old nail off, otherwise a scratching post or tree bark helps to get the old paw nails off.
Only if you have a cat who is extremely nervous. They'll tend to stand on two feet and bite the nails on the two front paws while frowning. This generally creates an impression of deep thought. However, most humans ignore this because it is logically impossible and thus, what cannot be possible, our mind chooses to ignore for us.
My female hates having her nails trimmed by me so I usually do it every month or so. In between she will try to bite them herself, I guess when she gets uncomfortable.
I'd try to trim them or have them trimmed because cats scratch things (mine stick to their toys/posts) in order to get the hull off their claws so if they are indoors you need to do it for them or have them trimmed.
yeah.. sometimes they do that to clean their nails.. i normally trim my cat's nails... and they still do that..
yes it is normal he/she is just grooming thats all have a nice day.
Yes, lots of cats do it. I trim both of my cats nails, but my male still bites his on occasion.

How can I make my nails grow faster?
Long story short, I'm going to go see my boyfriend next week. He wants me to get a manicure so my nails look nice for a wedding we're attending together. The thing is that he doesn't want me to cut them but a lot of them look absolutely horrible. Is there any way I could make them grow about an eighth to a quarter of an inch within the next week? Thanks for helping!!How can I make my nails grow faster?
the only thing I can tell you is get some jello and mix it but don't jell it drink it while its warm or just go to a nail salon and have the put some acrylic nails onHow can I make my nails grow faster?
You might try some Knox gelatin. You mix it in water and drink it. I don't know if it will speed up the nail growth enough, but it will help and make them stronger so they don't break as easy.
they have those quick growing nail polishes that work pretty good and there is also creme too that you can use i just dont know the name of it srry
get that clear nail polish for fast nail growth. im pretty sure it will be enough

What can I do to keep my nails from splitting?
My nails often split, as in one layer peels off from another. I am wondering how I can prevent this. I paint my nails a lot and also use a lot of nail polish remover, could this be the cause?
Thank you! What can I do to keep my nails from splitting?
Absolutely, The amount of chemicals you are using is really drying out your nail. Start using a base coat under your nail polish and preferrably use a formaldehyde and toluene free nail polish. (OPI has now removed these harsh chemicals form their newer colors). There are also nail polish removers you can purchase that are toluene free, and don't dry out your nails as much. What can I do to keep my nails from splitting?
i dont think that could be it
well 1 be careful when your nails are wet. thats wen they are EXTREMELY weak.
2nd my mom said garlic helps. and it does! i've tried it. they have some hardeners in stores though if you dont like the smell of garlic lol
but if you dont want to try the garlic remedy just buy a clear nail polish and ground the garlic and add it to the nail polish and mix it and apply. good luck!
Your diet also affects this. if you are not getting enough calcium, Vitamins E and B, and good fats (olive oil, oily fish, nuts, avocados, etc) it can cause your nails to split. Try taking a mutivatimin and cutting out processed foods
Use Sally Hanson's 'hard as nails' nail growth polish.
It works! Drink milk and get alot of calcium in your system, it helps the nail grow harder and longer. Also use clear nail hardener.stop blackheads
